Well I finally cracked and bought Track IR 5. After some of the latest VCs have come out it just makes sense to use this product which I can greatly see it's potential. I have a couple questions though.
Ok let's say with the PMDG 747. I get into the plane and center my view, how do I adjust or how do I set up so that when I move my head left to right without looking left or right so that I can see or move my point of view to the center of the overhead. Right now I can see the overhead but I am not centered enough on the overhead to read and click some of the switches.
Also when I am in spot view how do I pan my view around so I can see the plane in all 360 , while I have track IR 5 on? Right now Track IR overrides my hat switch on my joystick so I cannot pan my view.
Thanks for any help and thanks for a great product.
New guy needs some help.
Re: New guy needs some help.
This is FSX?
If you want to adjust the point that the seat is sitting at when you center, with FSX, you will need to edit the aircraft.cfg file for the viewpoint.
To get more movement in the spot plane view you have to pause the TrackIR software (F9 by default) then use your normal padlock.

Ahh got you on the spot view, yes this is FSX sorry.
But what I mean about head movement to see more of the center panel is how do I adjust the Z axis so that it has more sensitivity then the other axis, so that when I move my head left or right without turning my head, I will be able to almost center my view over the overhead panel and then move it back. See what I mean kinda ? lol

Within the profile settings, you can increase the response curve for the z-axis -
From within the TrackIR 5 manual

5.8.1.3 Motion Curves
Each axis can be adjusted to have a faster or slower response to your actual head movement. The TrackIR software uses motion curves to amplify your real head movement, allowing complete control of the in-game view with varying degrees of head movement. Changing the motion curve for an axis allows you to fine-tune the amount of head movement used to control your view. It can also be used to create a deadzone, which helps negate small, unintentional head movements when the view is centered.
Select Axis for Editing
Select the desired axis for editing from the Axis dropdown. Once selected, the current motion curve will appear in the preview window below.
Using Control Points for Curve Editing
The control points on the graph allow you to change the shape of the curve by clicking and dragging the points. You can manually enter values or fine tune with the arrow keys in the adjustment boxes above the curve.
Note : You can zoom in on any area on the graph by hovering over it with your mouse pointer and using the scroll wheel to move in and out. dropdown menu.

Re: New guy needs some help.
I've not tried it yet, as my TrackIR5 died last night, but, try the Eyepoint moving to move your 'head' - it might work?
ctrl+shift+enter to move to the right more, does that work?

Re: New guy needs some help.
Actually, when using the TrackIR within FSX, FSX detects the TrackIR giving commands via SimConnect, and no longer responds to keyboard commands for moving the eyepoint.
Re: New guy needs some help.
Ah, okay. Thanks. I did also take a quick look on AvSim.Net, would the TrackIR override the default head positioning in the virtual cockpit? If not, this might be of use to someone:
