No, the camera itself, and the load on the system, would be independent of the gaming application.

Any patches/add-ons installed for BS?

It is very odd, that it would occur with both versions of the software, as they use completely different graphics drivers (within the TrackIR software itself).

Do see this issue with other gaming applications?

Here's some test results. These are the only games I have which support TrackIR, so my testing is somewhat limited. All FPS measured at the start of each game level/mission.

Black Shark v1.01. 'Instant action'.
With TrackIR - 48-52ish FPS
Without TrackIR - 17-24ish FPS

Arma 2 v1.3 'Battlefields'
With - 27ish FPS
Without - 22ish FPS

Arma 1 v1.16 'Convoy Ambush'
With - 45 FPS
Without - 45 FPS

So. Arma 1 is totally ok. Arma 2 less so - it scales, so, if without and I'm getting 40FPS on a map, with it'd be about 32 or so.

Black Shark is the real killer. Half what it should be.

I have no addons at all for Black Shark. Loads for Arma 2, but the problem was apparent when I first installed it and had no mods installed. None for Arma 1.

Just also wanted to add a big thanks for the attention so far, really appreciate it, and understand it must be as confusing for you as it is for me...

(Note - I had the 'with' and 'without' figures in my last post incorrectly reversed. 'With' should be the lower frame rate.)

Vincent - yes I have tried as admin.

I shall take your last suggestion as a graceful admission of defeat, on par with asking me to 'restart my computer and see if that helps' :) I can see we're at the end of the tether, and can see you've never encountered this issue before but still did your damnedest to try and help.

Thank you for your help, do really appreciate it. All the feedback and suggestions hands down beat the support I'd expect from any other company. I'll just continue using my TrackIR anyway, as it's so bloody brilliant, regardless.

If I ever do figure it out - new mobo, drivers, graphics card, whatever, I'll be sure to post here so it's helpful for anyone in the future.

Greetings,
Just to add my two cents worth I just resolved a problem I originaly thought had to do woth trackIr but ended up not. I use race sims mostly but had voice buddy software running for use in some games. My GTR seemed to come to a crawl when I use my trackir unit. Long story short turned off voice software for that game and frame rates kicked back up where they should be. Doesn't seem to bother any other games sims I use except GTR stuff when both TrackIr and voice buddy software running.
May have nothing to do with your situation but just what my situation fix was.
Good day

Hi,

I am having same problem here, but with Win XP 32 bits... I was hoping to change the OS and get Win7 to solve this problem but it may not be the key :(.

I just made a test regarding the CPU load on my C2D E6750 @ 2.66 Ghz :
BS + TrackIr 4 paused : CPU 1 is at 50-60% & CPU 2 is at 85-95%
BS + TrackIr 4 unpaused : Cpu 1 is at same load & CPU is dropping as low as 20-25%.

Tried the TrackIr on windows desktop (not in game):
TrackIr paused : CPUs load is between 0-5%.
TrackIr unpaused : CPU 1 0-5% & CPU 2 is at 20-25%.

Looks like the TrackIr is loading the CPU 2, and the CPU can't calculate for other application. At least on my setup.

Greets

EDIT : I'm using the TrackIr 4 Pro Bundle : TrackIr 4 Pro + TrackClip Pro

What version of the TrackIR software are you using?

Do you have the software minimized to the task bar?

System specifications?

Video card drivers?

Any add-ons/patches installed for BS?

Any other applications running in the background (down by the clock, on the taskbar)?

I use the TrackIR software version 4.1.037.

The software is usually minimized however I don't see any difference if it's or not minimized.

My system spec are :
MSI P35 Neo F
Intel Core2Duo E6570 @ 2.66 Ghz
3328 MB RAM
Win XP Family
GeForce 9800 GT 512 MB with 190.38 WHQL driver

BS english download version with 1.0.1a patch, FPS drops with or without any add-on.

Apps on background : Avast Antivirus, Comodo Firewall, Profile Manager for my Saitek X-52 and 2 or 3 others.

Between my initial post and this reply, I shut down my computer. I tried the same test when I restarded it and didn't got the same results regarding the CPU Load but I had the same FPS drop however.
As I can't get the same results regarding the CPU load please don't take care about my statement regarding CPU load...

Tried closing other applications, while running the software?

Do you see the same issue with other gaming applications?
