Installation problem - WINDOWS 7

Post by Macka- »

For some reason I can't get my Trackir 5 to start. I have made repeated attempts to uninstall/reinstall but (after installation of the software) the computer just doesn't seem to recognise the software and begin installing the drivers.I always unplug before un and re-installing the software but still see "No device detected" when I reconnect and open the program.

No lights, no work....no happy.....

Help please....

Are you connecting directly to the PC, or using a USB hub?

Have you tried the device on another system?

Thanks for your reply Vincent. I'm connecting directly to PC and yes, the device works fine on another PC running XP 64 bit.

What version of the TrackIR software are you using?

When the camera is installed, is it detected in the system device manager?

Under what category?

No. Despite repeated attempts at installing, the camera is not shown on the system Device Manager listing...

Do you have the latest motherboard bios, and MB chipset drivers installed?

The lastest release installed ok on my W7 x64. I didn't do anything special to install it either.

When installed the Tir5 shows as 'Unspecified' in the 'Devices and Printers' window and looks like a little washing machine. In 'Device Manager' is show as 'NaturalPoint Devices'.

Is your W7 32bit or 64bit? Have your tried different usb ports? Are the usb ports v2?

You could try installing the Tir5's exe as Administrator and with a Compatibility for another O/S.

Is your O/S up to date with all the '.Nets'?

Is your USB driver up to date? Check with motherboard manufacturer.

You can check with the system manufacturer, motherboard maker to see which version you currently have installed.

Well the problem is sorted. It transpires it was a Windows 7 install problem that took out a number of my USB ports. A reinstall of 7 has fixed the problem. Thanks to everyone for their assistance.
