OT: P51 sighting

Post by Jim »

Hello:

Just a personal note; got back from a trip to Palm Desert CA this past weekend and had a chance to go to the WWII Air Museum there. Just by chance there were 2 P51's sitting outside and they were leaving in about 30 minutes. The sound of those huge 2000HP+ engines starting up and taking off was incredible. The pilots then proceeded to do TWO flybys for us, as what appeared to be a pretty good clip. I think the best part was watching them roll in for the flyby. Thought I would share this and if anyone new of these two guys, I think they were going back to Chico, tell them I loved it!

No, I wasn't paying enough attention to bring my video camera. I do have some pictures and will try to remember to post when I get them back.

Thanks Jim. Cant wait to see them. I wonder if one of them is the one that pops up around here every now and then.

Another thing I would like to see is a Spitfire IX. Another one of my favorites.
