Latency

Post by BernhardSp »

Hi,

Do you know what the latency is between the camera and the output to the network streaming in tracking tools.
It seems low but we need an estimate for this.

Many thanks,
Bernhard

Hey Bernhard,

The cameras grab an image every 10ms, then there is the processing and transmission over the physical USB connection. If you estimate that at ~10ms, then all that remains is the latency through the software (which is shown in real-time along the bottom of the Tracking Tools). Depending on your machine and what you're tracking that typically comes in at around 2 or 3ms. The latency through the network streamer is on the order of 0.1ms or less. So a good conservative estimate is 15ms.
