Getting the Camera Position with TrackingTools

Post by henderso »

Hello everyone,

Is there an easy way to pull the location of the camera in TT?

I've seen the API methods to do this, but I'm wondering if I can access it through the GUI before I write some code.

Thank you!

There is currently no way to get this information through the UI. However, it would be a fairly straight-forward task to take the API example and update it to load a project file, then spit out all the camera position & orientation locations.

Thanks Doug, I'll give that a shot.

Just in case you are interested, we are in need of the camera locations in order to register a Total Station so we can then locate other objects in the room (but outside the tracking volume) in the same coordinate frame. The cameras are an attractive target for the Total Station as there are many of them, they are up high, and easy to get a laser bead on. We could also just throw a few rigid bodies on tripods, and we would have the same thing..and the coordinates. But sometimes the cameras are outside their own tracking volume, but are still registered in the coordinate frame and this led me to ask the question.

Thank you!
