face robot name template?

Post by ProjectPalitoy »

33 markers plus for for face robot compatible template.

Select 4 markers on head... template created.

But none of the markers follow a FR naming template....

just named as roots and sections...

Marker layout very carefully employed, so curious as to why this error...

Thanks

Hello,

We'll consider naming the 33+4 face template markers to FaceRobot names in the future release, but currently they are not named that way.

Grrrrrrrr!

I guess when I read Face Robot compatible, I assumed that like the other templates, the names would just pop in.

On a side note, the Y-up, Z forward that Natural point exports out the c3d data, opens up in the same world space in Motionbuilder, but in Softimage, its rotated in the Y by -90...

Any ideas?

Craig:

Thanks for participating in the forums. I see what you mean about the FaceRobot template naming issue. It would make sense to have them pre-labeled. We have the template done for the marker tracking, and it follows along exactly, but I see we are missing this last step. We will put it on the list.

Not sure what to do about the rotation issue, I assume there are no import settings to adjust in Softimage. Funny thing here is that it seems to me to be a Softimage issue, as we export C3D into so many programs, and they all treat it the same way! :)

hi Don and of course, Jim...

Setting up now for a new session. Im going to forego the head band markers completley and go with the Face Robot forehead markers.

I shall label all markers accordingly. However, if you guys can pre name a similar template in the next version, that would be great. I shall let you know if losing the head band and using just a LForehead and RForhead marker helps....

Don, try grouping that head node under a Null and then constrain the null to the last joint in the body's neck. You may just be inheriting a transform form further down the heirachy, hence the twist.

As for Softimage, I have opend the c3d in MoBu and its fine. Exported as a fbx, and its fine in Maya and Mobu.

I think it may have something to do with the very short neck on my character, and facerobot is creating a longer neck that when imported into face robot forces the solver to try and correct itself, hence the twist....

Maybe

Being new to Soft Image, im not really qualified to say... but its the only real logical explanation considering two apps seem fine with it...

Anyway, here goes... Steppin back into the volume to get the project-palitoy/Arena/Softimage pipeline sorted....

great session today.....

Used a new layout for the markers....

Image

http://project-palitoy.com/faceRobot/MarkerSet4.jpg

I am blessed with a nice sized forehead... so ditched the headband and used four markers on the forehead area.

template based on the FaceRobot setup

Rock solid...

But please, if there are any XSI users there (soft image) please can you load this and tell me if it loads face forward down the Z or rotated and looking down the X axis...

Maya and Motionbuilder are fine...

But until I resolve this issue, I cant progress...

Thanks

I cant get this to work.

data looks great in Arena
Looks great in Motion builder...

Head rigged in Facerobot works great.
But as soon as you import the arena data in, the head explodes...

Ka Boom

Any ideas?

I have rar'd up both the Arena elements (project, calibration, template, take etc

inc the avi's, the exported c3d file.

The name maps for Soft Image....

http://www.project-palitoy.com/faceRobo ... roblem.rar

The Softimage face robot scene all rigged and ready to go.

The rig works great with the softimage supplied rom for the face.

But the data from Arena just kills it.

I have no idea why, and would like to see if anyone here can shed some light.

Thanks guys

hi i checked your data and after creating a name and facemap for

your 24FPS_Take_ 6 data everything worked fine in facerobot.

i think your problem is your rig or the solving of your head

i`ve checked your data on a mesh without head movement
