BF2
Re: BF2
I was hoping to use trackir in BF2. My brother is one of the best chopper pilots!! He could kick butt in DC combat. I showed him trackir and all he talked about to me could he use it!!
I hope someone can find a way to get dice to let this happen!!

Re: BF2
I actually happened to meet one of the Dice employees in person the other day. He was working with development of some unspecified parts of BF2. Sadly, he hadn't even heard of TrackIR when I asked if BF2 will support it...
Hopefully, I just met and asked the wrong guy!

Re: BF2
wow,
that's a lotta good discussion, Black-Rose.
i'd encourage everyone and their mothers to post in this thread, requesting an interview question with the DICE boys.

i'd love to know if they're using the same (LAME) mouse look system from the first game (the "you must hold down shift to look around AND INSTANTLY CRASH " approach).
If they at least have mouse look separated from from the control of the aircraft (so you can look around while controlling - instead of toggling back and forth) that would a big obvious step.
Accepting that head-motion based view-control is a necessity for anyone who's used it would be another nice/obvious step.

Re: BF2
A little TrackIR pimpage can't hurt right?
My email to info@dice.se:
If possible please forward this email to those involved in the
development of Battlefield 2.
First, let me inform you that I am in no way affiliated with
NaturalPoint. I am an avid gamer who has come to love the gameplay
enhancing features of the TrackIR and when purchasing new games, TrackIR
support is one of the first things I look for and will be a factor in my
decision whether or not to purchase Battlefield 2. NaturalPoint's
TrackIR is an incredible new gaming device that allows for hands free
view control in todays greatest games. Using an infra-red receiver and
reflector, the players head-movements are translated into virtual head
movements in game. This allows for an unparallelled degree of immersion,
realism and fun. It also provides the user with the degree of
situational awareness required to skillfully control vehicles such as
those featured in Battlefield 2. NaturalPoint's technology has been
featured in games produced by the industries leading development studios
including Microsoft and Ubisoft and NaturalPoint's SDK allows for easy
implementation at any stage of a game's development. It is clear from
reading forum discussions on various Battlefield 2 community sites that
TrackIR support is by far one of the most eagerly desired features by
Battlefield 2 fans. I hope that you will take the time to seriously
consider implementing TrackIR support for Battlefield 2.
NaturalPoint's TrackIR website can be found here and further information
about the SDK here.
Regards,
Adam

Re: BF2
Hello:
Wow, thanks so much for being so supportive of the TrackIR and TrackIR Enhanced!
At this point we hold out very little hope that BF2 will support TrackIR Enhanced. We have tried everything we know to get it in. I even went to Sweden and met with the former Lead Programmer for Dice, only let his post there about 6 months ago and is great friends with the current Lead. I gave them free units and everything. We have heard nothing back. How dissapointing.
So, I think that we are going to get in there one way or another! Look for us to perform a "CFS3" on BF2!
Any help from the community is still great!

Re: BF2
It would be great to see TrackIR work out for BF2. NP might not be able to take the official route, but mods have always dominated the Battlefield scene. Only time will tell
