Question about camera/sensor activity

Can someone shed some light on whether the trackir camera/sensor is active and projecting IR either:

* all the time when plugged into a USB port.
* only when the software is running.

I want the most life out of my sensor and it does feel a little on the warm side even when not in use but plugged in. There's no way to actually tell if it's doing anything since IR is invisible so thought I'd ask here.

If it's only active when the software or game is running I'll leave it plugged in.

The TrackIR's IR LEDs are only active if the software is running. Even though the light itself is invisible, if you look close you can actually see the LEDs glowing slightly.

If you have TrackClip PRO selected as your tracked object, the TrackIR's LEDs will always be off, even if the software is on.
