End of Frustration

Post by shotgunshack »

Thought I had to pass on my experience of TIR and W7. After a week of problems with installation on a new W7 PC (I am a long time user of TIR from TIR2) slavishly following the advice on these forums and either getting no recognition of the device or unable to get Install Shield past 90%(despite Admin Privileges etc., I suddenly decided to look at the properties of the software(5.1.3Final) and noticed a caveat as follows"this file may come from another computer and has been blocked to protect you" - unblocking resulted in a perfect install.Hope this helps - Merry Xmas.

Good to know it's working for you!

It's interesting to note, though, that in Windows 7, being "an administrator" doesn't mean what it did in Windows XP. It's a lot more like an XP power user. Your actual administrator account is actually disabled by default. You have to manually activate it through the MMC before it can be used.

Microsoft refers to this as one of Windows 7's security features.
