Maximum avi file size

Post by evengi »

Hi!

I've made a custom setup with a V100R2 in a helmet mount producing video, and the rest of the optitrack system capturing body motion.

I'm getting a problem whenever I'm exporting video longer than approx 40 sek, or 2,36Gb. Is this a limitaion? Is there a workaround? I've tried compress the video with cinepak, but Arena craches.

Thanks!

Hello -

How many cameras, and what type of video are you using?

Hi Mike.

I'm using 17 V100R2 cameras, 16 for capture and 1 for video.
I've exported video both as uncompressed avi and the cinepak codec. It seems to work fine with smaller clips.
The capture of grayscale video inside arena works great. I can view and scrub trough the video, also the long clips. The error occurs only when exporting longer clips.

Thanks!

Can you post the windows event log entry for the Arena crash?

Hi Mike.

Unfortunately I'm not familiar with the windows event log. I tried another export today, and unlike before, Arena did not crash, but the .avi files was rendered useless.
It only happens with files extending approx 2,3 Gb.

I'm not reliant on this setup any longer, as I'm using a go-pro cam for the helmet mount. It works like a charm.

Nontheless it would be great to export greyscale video from a session as reference, and not be restricted to a limited time.

It's coming, but the limitation you're seeing here is because Arena is, at heart, 32-bit. You're bumping into a memory limitation. You can try to extend it a bit by converting it to large address aware, but a true fix will be when the 64 bit version is released.
