TrackIR4 5.1.3 Crashes with ATI video card and drivers

Post by AV8R »

I just replaced my nVidia 8800GT with an AMD/ATI 6770 HD with the
drivers that came with the video card.

Now TrackIR4 with 5.1.3Final drivers fails upon invocation... every time.

Reinstalling TIR software does not resolve this problem. What did
solve it was getting the very latest ATI Catylist 12.4 WHQL drivers.
Problem gone.

Check triple buffering in CCC. It is often the case that triple buffering being enabled is the cause of crashing.

TrackIR lastest driver doesnt work with my ATI lastest driver 12.8 but did for 12.6.

Im not using triple Buffering.

Only option is to go back to 12.6, unless theres a fix
Sent email to support for help.

tried latest TIR5.2beta02 and still no good.

restored computer to pre-ATI 12.8 back to 12.6 and it works again.
Definately an incompatibility between TIR and ATI drivers.
CCC triple buffering was disabled in my tests.

Av8r,
I got back to your emails with some things to try. I'm doing some more testing as well in hopes to track down what is causing this, but for now all I can really recommend is using 12.6 of the driver or using the TrackIR 4 software.

Maybe NP can work with AMD as they develop and test their drivers.
Might be as simple as a phone call and offer a TIR to be part of their test bench.

I had Track IR working perfrectly with 12.8 and tripple buffering. Then today I tried to install 12.10 and suddenly nothing worked. I have managed to reinstall all the drivers and to be safe I am back to 12.6
The issue is that that I can not get TrackIR to work. Nothing happens is than when trying to start the TrackIR software. In the Task Manager I can see that it is running and use 12-13% of CPU but program window does not open. Have tried sever times to clean and re-install program. Beforew the latest attempt I tried to delete all old post from the registry before installing the program again. Nothing seems to work.

Any ideas what it can be and what I should do?

Hi guys,

We have a test build out for fixing crashing issues for AMD users that turn Triple Buffering and VSync on. It appears to fix this crash for them. We'd like to invite all users with AMD crashing issues to test the build now, so we can see how far the fix extends.
