12 cameras (v100r2) truss setup with 3.5 mm lens work??

Post by kraze »

Hi
I had a hall with 20 feet X 25 feet area.
I am having 12 v100 r2 cameras with default lens (4.5mm).
I am planning to upgrade all of my 12 cameras lens to 3.5mm.
My major requirement is to get max possible capture volume & also
to shoot double character.
Till now I always used to shoot only single character.

Please suggest me, How much max capture volume, i may get with my 12 v100r2 cameras with 3.5 mm lens...
And also will it create any problem if i go with double cactors shoot....

Thanks

At that size of a setup area, a better way to increase the size of your capture volume would be to add more cameras. The 3.5mm lenses--using that few cameras and in that large of a space--will likely negatively impact the quality of your data such that two actor captures will require quite a bit of cleanup. The 3.5mm lenses shine in smaller setup areas, or when you have more (16+) cameras.

Ok, I got it.
Thanks for your simple & clear reply.
Is it ok, if I upgrade my setup to 16 cameras ?
And all lenses to 3.5 mm.
My requirement is to shoot double character in "10 feet X 10 feet" capture area !

I think that the 3.5mm with 16 cameras will work well for you, and you should definitely be able to achieve that size of capture volume. It's possible that you will need to adjust some of the point cloud settings to optimize your data for the wider FOV lenses. If you need assistance with that, or with how to position/aim your cameras, please don't hesitate to get in touch with us. We're happy to help you optimize the system.

For instructions on how to change your lenses in the field, please refer to the lens changing tutorial video:

Thanks Buddy for your support.
Sure, I will be getting back to you for further details, after booking & getting 4 more cameras and lens (But it may take 2 more months time for me to adjust budget & all stuff :)

Mean while, I would like to know one more thing from you...
What is the maximum capturing volume for double character shoot, I can get with my current set up of 12 cameras with all 4.5 mm lens!

The max capture volume will depend on the height you have your cameras mounted at and the size of the setup area. It will also be influenced by the type of motions you want to capture. 12 cameras is the absolute minimum for a V100:R2 system to capture 2 actors, so you shouldn't expect to get the kind of results we can deliver with more cameras or our higher end cameras.

Assuming the setup size you mentioned above, with a 7' tall volume height, I would estimate 2 actor capture to be solid within a 6' x 10' area, with less continuous data up to about 8' x 10'.

The V100:R2 will never provide the best two actor data (when compared to the much higher resolution Flex 13, for instance), but you should be able to capture some decent interaction in that setup.

Height of my hall will be 9 & half feet.
Till now, am planting my cameras on 6 stands (each stand 2 cameras...one at the height of 8 & half feet and another at 6 & half feet).
As I have all 4.5 mm lens, I set them a bit close to origin, even I have a big hall.
The radius of circle on which, stands are placed will be around 9&half feet.
I made a circular composition, actually.
I never got capturing volume of at least, 3 and half feet radius circle.
Am I doing any wrong?
I don't have any idea about point cloud settings also...
Please help me in getting the best with the resources I have, for now !
