Motive for incomplete body tracking

Post by courrier »

Hi guys,

I wonder if Motive:Body as well as a capture suits + hand kits are fine to track:
* The upper body of someone who is seated at a table wearing the capture suit (is it necessary to define a full skeleton with legs for this use case?)
* The hands of someone else wearing only a hand kit without suit

In other words, can we track only parts of a skeleton?

Other question: I'm used to get data from Motive:Tracker using VRPN (with the python lib), is this protocol also suited for skeletons with Motive:Body? Any link to the online documentation of the network interface for skeletons? :)

Many thanks for your answers

Motive Body is very suitable for tracking the upper body, from the waist up.

You would not need markers on the lower extremities of the first subject. A marker set or a rigid body could be used for the second subject's hand.

The VRPN protocol can be used with Motive Body. Access to skeleton data within the packet will be very similar to that of rigid body.

Thanks Dustin for this quick answer.

What about the number and the location of markers on the suit? Do they follow a specific protocol or do we only select the set of markers at custom locations and define it as a skeleton which is automatically recognized?

Also it looks like the markers sold for skeleton tracking are bigger (14mm) that standard ones (9mm). Is it really advised to use these big markers?

When using skeleton auto-labelers, the marker quantity is fixed. and the markers must be placed on specific sites on the body. We do not have custom auto-labelers for skeletons.

Can I have you submit a ticket at help.naturalpoint.com to answer your remaining questions?
