Question about positioning

Post by mrHiggins »

Hello!

i bought a trackir 5 about 2 years ago for elite but i couldn't use it well. THe problem is that i have problems with my eyes. I see 30% and my "reading distiance" is about 25cm. That means I have to be at the screen also in this distance (i have glasses for wider distance, but without glasses I see the maximum (30%) on this distance.
Hard to discribe but there is no chance to use a monitor in another distance - thats the fact.

No I have a 27inch screen. If i place the sensor on top, and go on this distance, I'm too close to the sensor. If i go in distnace that works, its hard to see anything for me.

Is there in the 2 years a solution for that? My idea was to place the sensor LEFT on me (on the arm of a lamp). Therefor I have to remap the axes.
Is there a chance to do this?

I think its possible to place it behind me and "mirror" the axis. but set x to y axis?

I want to play a10. Maybe remap the trackir functions in game? (I think this is possible) but i will loose some calibration stuff made by the software. Maybe the software compensate that the sensor sits on head and not direct at the eyes with a non linear mapping?

Thanks and best regards

Michael,

The best way to do this for you would be to mount the camera behind you so can be as close as you need to be and still get the benefit of tracking. It just requires you to put the TrackClip or TrackClip PRO facing the camera. It would be much easier to configure than placing it to the left or right. You would only need to invert the z and pitch axes.
