[Help] TrackIR Stuttering under normal conditions

Hello, I've recently purchased the TrackIR for use in Elite Dangerous. It works well except when I look down and to the left. The trackIR jitters and stutters a lot when I do that. It's quite frustrating and ruins the experience. Anyone have any ideas what's wrong? I've found increasing the smoothness to 50 helps a lot, but it seems like I'm putting a band-aid on the issue, not really fixing it.
