Make sure you do not have exclusive loading of any profile turned on as that can block FS2004 from being detected.

Hi, I have been having this exact problem for a very long time. The curious thing is that it does work if I am logged in as administrator. It also works as power user in FB/PF (ie, IL-2), just not as a power user in FS2004.

I've had this problem since I know. Under Win2k it only worked as admin, now in WinXP the above problem. For a while I thought it was some kind of USB conflict, but now I think it must be software. I'm using the original TIR with 3.13 drivers, correctly installed.

Everything tracks fine when I watch the Tracking and Motion screens. It just doesn't move in FS2004.

I don't know about "exclusive loading of a profile," perhaps this is a feature of later drivers?

I really appreciate help on this as well, because I've had to fly as admin and that is a poor solution, especially now that I am considering flying multiplayer.

Have you tried all the steps listed in our Tips and Tricks section for FS2004?

No, I hadn't seen this page. Thanks.

The only one of the 6 tips and tricks listed that applies to my problem is the sixth one:
quote:6. Sofware version 3.13 issue only : TrackIR not working in Enhanced mode.

First make sure you are running the latest version of the NaturalPoint TrackIR software and that you have installed the TrackIr.dll file to your FS2004 MODULES dir as instructed when you installed the TIR software. This accurately describes the problem, since the Mouse Emulation mode does work but TIR Enhanced mode doesn't. However, the wording confuses me.

It is listed as a 3.13 software version problem only, and part of the solution is to run "the latest version of the NaturalPoint TrackIR software." According to the NP download site, version 3.13 is tha latest version of the software for the original TIR device. Furthermore, the DLL file that v.3.13 installed into the MODULES directory is called TrackIRFS2004.dll and not TrackIR.dll; I don't know whether there is a different file.

This also doesn't explain why it works when logged as an administrator but not as a (power) user. I checked the user permissions for the file, and they are set to both Read and Read & Execute.

So I'm not sure what to try. I also had this problem with version 3.10, and have only tried using 3.13 recently.

It's still comforting to know that this problem has been observed by others.
