TrackIR not working under latest Win10Pro 2004-Update

Post by Uwe3005 »

Hello,

I'm using TrackIR Pro since 1/2 Year (latest Version) running without Problems mostly with DCS.
Yesterday (29.09.2020) I updated my PC

Win10 Pro Vers. 2004
Intel i9-10900K
64GB RAM
2x2 TB SSD (No Raid)
Asus Strix Gaming Z490-F
NVidia RTX 2080 TI
Screen Resolution running at 4k

to the latest Version of Win10-2004.

After Rebooting Windows itself resetted several Settings, which at startup had to be defined new (Windows only).
Since then TrackiR (latest Version) do not run properly.

Startup Ok.
NO Tracking.
Right Clicks in Window do work (Change views, Profiles).

but NO Movement of Headtracking.

Reinstall doesn't change anything.

Any hint (despite of Startup as admin)?

BTW:

Using FS2020 NEVER accepted TrackIR.
TrackIR is recognized by FS 2020 (Tab Controls), but doesn't work.
Controls used: Logitech X56 HOTAS.
All movements are designated to the HOTAS.

In HOTAS-Controls-Page I don't see a possibility to disengage (set to n/a), so that movements can be reassigned to the TrackIR.

Or should FS 2020 do this automatically (assigning movements to the TrackIR, if TrackIR is connected and active at FS-Startup?

BIG thanks in Advance for your assistance !!!

Hi Uwe,

Is your TrackIR device tracking in the TrackIR software? Make sure you run the software with administrative privileges. Retry updating your gameslist in the TrackIR software. If you are using a USB hub or external port, unplug and use the computers native USB port.

Open up the TrackIR software before using MSFS 2020. When you load MSFS, the right side of the TrackIR camera should have a green LED light.

Let me know what you see!

Best,

Kai

Hi Kai,
THX for your hints.

I already tried all your suggestions, but nothing works.
Software starts and menus are clickable, but no tracking of the device.

I connected the hardware to my gaming Notebook where TrackIR is installedw, too - but NO Windows Update- and the TrackIR works without issue.

Back into the Gaming PC, nothing.

I noticed, that the 2 internal red LED within the TrackIR Receiver (the Part connected to the computer) do not light up, when connected to any USB-Port there. As if the device is‘nt recognized by the computer. No „connection sound“ of USB-port (I tried all 8 of them). Connecting other devices to any of the USB-ports will work (no USB port failure).
So to me it seems to be a driver/Software recognition Problem, no Hardware issue (because works on Gaming notebook without Win10 Update). No Software seems to feel “responsable“ to activate the device.
Perhaps a problem with the Microsoft Visual C++ (I read this in another section/Post concerning TrackIR and Prepar3D)??

Thx in advance for your assistance !

Greetings
Uwe

Hi Uwe,

If your device is working with your Notebook but not your gaming PC, then I believe the drivers and/or registries might have been adjusted from the Windows update. Please try performing a full reinstall. You can find the instructions here: viewtopic.php?f=86&t=19470

Performing the full reinstall will reset the drivers and VC++ files.

Hopefully this works, if not please reach out again!

Best,

Kai

I also have the 'not working under latest Win10Pro 2004 - Update' issue.
The reinstall procedure suggested did not work for me. (Caveat, it did work initially, however the frozen app issue returned upon first reboot after wipe and reinstall of TrackIR5 software and driver).

Any other ideas to fix this?

I began having trackIR freeze immediately after the windows 10 2004 update.

(1) I tried the recommended wipe & reinstall, and that worked initially.
(2) I discovered that any setting change will cause the freeze to recur again, after save, exit and restart of trackIR.
(3) Wipe & reinstall fixed again back to stage (1), but then any change (2) causes freezes.

Additional testing:
(4) I erased my TrackIR5/Settings.xml, which allowed trackIR to work again.
(5) any change to settings causes a freeze after save, exit and restart of trackIR.
(6) either deleting the Settings.xml file, or saving the original pristine installed settings.xml, and restoring the original saved Settings.xml will return the trackIR to functioning status.

Conclusion:
The problem is something to do with Settings.xml in windows 10 after update 2004.

Hope that helps aid in coming up with a solution to this problem.

I will include my working and non-working Settings.xml files here for reference:
All I did to break the trackIR program (to being freeze on restart) was to change from "TrackClip" mode to "TrackClipPro" mode and save and restart.
However, any settings change seems to cause the freeze behavior.

My problem was an other issue, not windows 10 related.
Support helped me to solve it.

Thanks!

Had the same problem today. I was able to fix uninstalling the TrackIR Software and the NatualPoint 64bit drivers. I disconnected the camera and then reinstalled the software. Everything seems to be working now.
