Is Richard Burns Rally supported

Post by Piddy »

Hi,

I am just wondering if the soon-to-be-released game Richard Burns Rally has support for Track-IR?

Thanks.

edit: Latest info = Just run the latest version (currently 4.0.021) of the TrackIR drivers and away it goes. Doesn't make driving any easier though!

Piddy & oqvist,

We were working very hard to have RBR with TrackIR support, however the publisher felt that it did not need TrackIR support at this time due to the time restraints.

But games do get patched.

Thanks for the reply Wayne. RBR is a great game and I hope they get enough sales to continue the series.

Does anyone know if the game has a look left/right axis?

If it does then there are ways to still use the TIR2 or 3 in the all-important enhanced mode. The moderators seem reticent to mention or otherwise advertise the 3rd party addition(s) that allows that to work. Is it just me or you guys really keeping mum?

Well I got it to run last night thanks to a 3rd party app, RBR CamHack. I need more time to play with the settings as it was difficult at times to discern between headmovement and sideways car movement.

This was my first real use of the TrackIR software and I was only in Mouse Emulation mode. I'll give PPJoy and TIR2Joy a chance soon to try Enhanced mode.

No matter how well you get mouse emulation to work, it will not compare to enhanced mode.

Someone tell me I'm wrong about this...

In the meantime, start investigating enhanced mode, you shouldn't be sorry.

Hi All,

I've put a program together that lets you use TrackIR enhanced mode in Richard Burns Rally. It's a bit buggy, so try it at your own risk (worse that should happens is a crash!). I'm still a terrible driver in RBR, so the only video is me sitting still at the start looking around.

All at: http://www.geocities.com/tir_temp

Let me know if it works for you.

Cheers,

Cool video, glad it seems to work for you.

The TrackIR centre view key (F12) didn't work in game for me so the tir_rbr program lets you set your own in the settings dialog - try setting it to F1 and using that to centre the view in game.

Cheers, TT
