ok so theres a hotkeys panel to edit hotkeys.
How do I save and reuse my hotkeys?
I copied a profile to rename, then tried to edit it, that worked until the application closed - the edits didn't stick

In the Layout dropdown menu, you can Create a new layout. Then get all of your buttons and hotkeys the way that you want them, Then "update current layout" and "save layout as default". You can also Export the profile which will give you a .Motive file that you can drag into Motive and this quickly import your settings if you switch versions of Motive.
