I was prompted to upgrade my TrackIR software from 5.4.2 to 5.5.2 today.
After installing TrackIR 5.5.2 my TrackIR device stopped working. The software launched without error but the Camera Tracking Status LED in the bottom right does not glow yellow.
If I completely uninstall 5.5.2 and revert to 5.4.2 it initially didn't work, but on checking Device Manager the TrackIR device was listed as "Other" rather than as a TrackIR. A quick "Update Driver" / "Browser my computer for drivers" / and navigating to "C:\Program Files (x86)\NaturalPoint\USB Drivers x64" and reinstalling the drivers resumed normal function.
So a work of caution for other TrackIR users,
TrackIR 5.5.2 Doesn't Seem To Work with TrackIR4

Re: TrackIR 5.5.2 Doesn't Seem To Work with TrackIR4
Ive come to these forums to report similar. Had been using version 5.4.2 for a long time. Have had TrackIR 4 for close to 20 years.
Noticed a notification in the app for an update, which I have never noticed before so downloaded the latest 5.5.2.
I ran the installer and after some searching worked out it installs under a different directory. Regardless of this the software failed to launch. Restarted the pc and it launched but only 4 small red lights lit up on the tracker. No other lights came on. There was absolutely no tracking working despite wearing the cap and trackclip. I think it said no device found at one stage. Did a number of tests including manually selecting the driver for TrackIR in Device Manager after it eventually showed there. Still didnt work. Read forums which said to completely remove previous installs. Only 1 listed in Add/Remove Programs (Windows 11 Pro by the way). Removed it and deleted all Naturalpoint folders in Appdata and Program folders. Installed latest again - did not work. Removed and also tried 5.5.0 and 5.5.1 - all failed to work. No tracking at all in TrackIR software. Started up Microsoft Flight Simulator wondering if software needed a running game to work but nope.
Uninstalled and reinstalled 5.4.2 again and that worked fine. Ive been having issues lately and dont know whether the intermitent loss of signal (green or blue light flickers), resulting in no tracking briefly, is down to software, the device is failing or the reflective strips on the clip I wear on my cap has lost reflectivity given its age

Re: TrackIR 5.5.2 Doesn't Seem To Work with TrackIR4
Hello cjibbotson,
At this time, we recommend that TrackIR 4 users continue using version 5.4.2. The TrackIR 4 has been retired for a long time, and we cannot guarantee that any future updates will work with that model.
If the issue you are experiencing while using 5.4.2 is intermittent and may be the reflective strips, you may wish to consider purchasing a replacement TrackClip (https://www.trackir.com/accessories/) or reflective material (https://optitrack.com/accessories/markers/).
Kind Regards,
