It's possible that there's an issue or conflict with something else on your system. I'd recommend waiting for the next release of TrackIR 5.x software, as it will have a different installation engine attached to it that may help.
Any ideas how long I have to suffer? Looking at the downloads section, the latest release was done in March 2011...

The next version should be released before Windows 8 general availability. TrackIR 4.x, by the way, has every feature that 5.x does, without the UI. Functionally, they're the same.

Great to know. Can you confirm I can use the TIR5 profiles on TIR4 software?

They're not backwards compatible from 5.x to 4.x, but profiles created in 4.x can be updated to 5.x.

Hello,

I am having the exact same problem as Ice. TIR5 software installed. Try to run and nothing, no error message, no window...nothing. However it does appear in the processes.

Install version 4 software and no problem.

Any news on a fix for this issue?

Hmm, would you be able to get a list of running processes and hardware models to support@naturalpoint.com? reference this thread in the email.

I'd like to see if I can identify any potential conflicts.

Wow, that certainly is 12 megs of text file. It's got the answer in it, though!

Your event log is littered with application faults across the board showing error code 0xc0000005, page fault in non paged area. Essentially programs are looking for information in sections of memory they have no business looking in. The range of executables doing this is pretty wide, not limited to just TrackIR or games/OGL calls.

You likely have:
A bad stick of memory (most likely)
A bad component on your motherboard linked to memory (slot, northbridge, et. cetera)
A bad processor (least likely)
