Slapp: I do not work for NaturalPoint. I am just a beta tester and an avid fan and have been hanging around for the last few years helping everyone else have the same awesome experiance with the TIR as I have.
As for where they will go with the TrackIR4, I can only speculate. That is somehting they dont tell me. There has always been rumor about the ability to hook up multiple units into an "ARRAY" of TrackIR's.... few reasons you would want to do this that we wont go into here but the games have to support the feature. None of them do right now and it is unknown about the future.
Of course, as technology continues.... better parts means faster and better TrackIR's, which leads to faster and better view control in the cockpit.
To answer your other question, yes. There is a HUGE difference in background light filtering with the TrackIR 3 Pro. I do not mean 'a little'. I mean what I said... HUGE difference.
Anyway, press the dang button and get in with the TrackIR 3. You will be VERY happy you id so.
And no, I dont get paid to say that.

Hotdognz, let me/us know how the results go m8.

PS, I got my finger hovering over the "Confirm order" button...Really getting desperate now I dont think as a stand alone unit that it can go any farther...it's a mouse.
Faster electronics I suppose, although there is nothing wrong with the speed of the TIR3 Pro right now as far as I can see.
I suppose someone will always want to track that missle which they managed to avoid though.
I can't make any comparisons with other units ( TRI1 and TRI2 ) because the TRI3Pro is my first foray into my virtual head.
I think that from the short time that I have used the unit in IL2Fb and AEP, I am more than pleased with the results...it can only get better with more use.
Never loosing track of that bandit makes for deeper immersion into the sim. My Hotas is out of action at the moment and so I was forced to fly with a game pad! but still managed to fry a Bf109 ( 1 vs 1 ) . Now that says it all for me. It would have seemed impossible to do so before the TIR3 pro arrived. This is one serious piece of sim kit and with a decent hotas, the sky is the limit so to speak ( sorry pun intended ) FPS must be pretty good aswell.
Slapp...
I wouldn't bother waiting any longer with that hovering finger, this is one time I can say that you will not be dissapointed with a Track IR 3Pro.
As far as inovations go, then I suppose that an update to the software is probably the way to go with maybe an inclusion ( with the authors permission of course...Ker-ching) of the Mapper utility. I know its free as a download at the moment but it would be nice to have seen this as a part of the TIR software package as a whole. Hows about it NP? Better integration ( Win 98 and upwards) and more features always makes the customer happy. Maybe a means of dynamicaly altering the speed of the cursor in flight, similar to the Razer mouse.
There is always something that a good product needs and that is a good explanatory manual. I dont mean something that is 200 pages long, but a manual which explains for instance...how to use the edit points a bit better. There is only a very small paragraph on setting the unit up for Cfs. Now, I like to play and experiment sometimes but a few more pointers wouldn't go amiss NP.
There is just one more thing...its probably nothing...things change...but in the manual, it says on the tracker screen that when the unit is tracking, a green dot or bar ( with cap ) should be seen...but mine is yellow. Was it green in the past or is it a typing error? It all seems to work properly though and I am not too bothered if the display dot is Green, Red, or Purple. It just avoids confusion and misunderstanding things.
I haven't read all the threads about TIR2 yet and no doubt, these points may have already been mentioned elsewhere. If they have, then could you point me in the right direction please.
So far with the little that I have used the TIR unit, all in all, I think that this product has finally come of age ( after reading some reviews )...I am very happy with my purchase. After using one, I will find it difficult to play a flight sim without it.

I looked at this. It appears there was a bug in the camera data display code for 16 bit color depth modes. I fixed the bug and the fix will be included in the next software release.

Thanks for the low-down JD114T9
I missed "the parcel" by 20 mins this morning!
How cruel those postmen can be...
I will collect it tomorrow and I'm really looking forwards to testing it out.
A bit of advice please; I'm not sure whether to sell or keep my TrackIR-2 as a back-up/hand-me-down to my son (age8/into flying FB, a budding aviator ).
I am a little worried that someone of that age could/should keep still long enough...Maybe I should just set him up with it and see how he gets on with the unit.
If there are any negatives/health issues for kids using it, please let me know.
Cheers

Isn't that always the case, especially when you are waiting for something special ....No use in saying that I hope that you enjoy your new unit, I am sure you will. I cant wait until my system is fully operational again and I can make real use of the TIR 3 pro online.
Are there are any negatives/health issues for kids using it, please let me know.
Your son is 8 years old eh? Phew, now that's what I call starting them off young . Most kids are into PS2 action games and shy away from things too technical...they just want to enjoy the games and have some fun...Ha! dont we all.
I would try him out with the spare unit to see how he feels about it.
Most children learn very quickly and you should see by his reaction to it's use whether he will continue to use it.
Once he realises its potential, I think he will want to keep it. Whether he will let you use it if yours ever breaks down though is another matter . That's the only problem that I can see....and that will be your problem not his!
As Charlie has already mentioned, his only problem is an addiction to flight sims and that can't be a bad thing in my book.
Hand and eye co-ordination is a good thing to have. If you add in head co-ordination and 3D spatial awareness aswell, then he will be one step ahead of most.

There are no health issues for anyone of any age using the TrackIR other than severe and acute addiction to computer gaming.

Thanks chaps for the words of advice; glad to hear that there is nothing to worry about health-wise.
Just picked up my TrackIR3 Pro; unpluged my TrackIR2 and hoocked up the 3(with no probs at all).
I Jumped into a quick mission and tested it for 30 mins or so; first impressions:
1) Perfect
2) Buy one.
Well done all at Natural point for a wonderfull product and a great support team.
Thank you for making my day.
