Honestly, I am inclined to think it is a problem that between the Trackir/IL2/ATI setup. The other possible culprit could be the Nvidia chipset on my motherboard. These are two things that most of us have in common. But the thing is, this did not start till AEP came out. So something in the AEP release started this issue for us. Now its just a matter of finding the problem and getting it fixed, be it by Natural Point, ATI, or 1C. But as i am sure that 1C and ATI will say that there is no problem on their end as the game will run fine with an ATI card and drivers, I am looking to Natural point for assistance as it is when we add in their product that the problems begin. I just hope they can fix this for us. Using mouse emulation mode is just annoying after you get used to enhanced mode.

Charlie,

This is not so. As i do not fly with Hellbender, and he too has the same problem

I know you are a beta tester for NP, and so i know that you will have a tendency to not blame their product, but in this case, i feel it is totally on their end. Facts are pretty simple, Play game or 30 mins or so, FPS drop to half of normal, disable Trackir and framerates go back to normal. Now leave the trackir disabled for 10-15 minutes, then turn it back to enhanced mode, and sometime it works just fine, other times not. I am just looking for some way to fix this problem thats all. If you look in the IL2 forum on these boards, you will see this problem has been on going for sometime. Also, there are MANY more people experiencing this problem then you might imagine. I can think of at least 5 cases where i was flying on a server and someone complained that their FPS dropped. I asked if they were using trackir and they responded yes. I told them to turn off their trackir unit and see if their FPS come back. All 5 times their FPS came back. So i think its safe to assume there are many Trackir users out there experiencing this problem but have not make the connection to what is causing it. They are probably thinking its something wrong with the game or the server they are playing on.

As i said, I just would like to see this problem fixed. I enjoy using Trackir in flight sims. Infact i do not fly any sim that does not support it anymore. Just cant get myself to go back to the hatswitch or mouse . So if there is ANYTHING i can do to help get this fixed, Please let me know.

SPaRX,

One thing we should try and find out is if indeed everyone experiencing the problem uses an ATI video card. I am rather inclined to blame ATI, having had so many problems with them as of late.

Two threads on the 1C/UBI forums to illustrate my argument:

1) Random game freezes happening to ATI users in FB/AEP/PF (4 pages long)
http://forums.ubi.com/eve/ubb.x?q=Y&a=t ... 077442&p=1
(Note: Nvidia users have similar problems; but we have singled out a specific ATI bug nonetheless. ATI, on the other hand, remains confidently silent; "sensing" that it isn't their problem.)

2) Brand new: my Catalyst 4.12 Impressions for FB/AEP/PF
http://forums.ubi.com/eve/ubb.x?a=tpc&s ... 8701043252
(Note: at least ATI acknowledges this issue and they are supposedly working on correcting it. Ever since 4.11. When they get some time in between two Half-Life 2 tweaks.)

Now I do realise that this is completely unrelated to our TrackIR problems, but it just adds to the whole list of complaints I have towards ATI. It would by no means surprise me if our common problem actually lies on their end.

Again, I say, find a guy that is known to consistantly have this problem. Then completely remove the ATI and cats from his system and replace it with an nVidia card.

See if the problem presists. I know that this will NOT solve your problem. But, if it gets rid of the problem, it will have isolated the problem to the cats and version 2.0 or higher of IL2. If it doesn't get rid of the problem, then at least you'll know that the card isn't the problem.

Thing is, you have to make sure that the ATI and cats are completely gone or else you can't be completely sure.....

Does this Phenomenon only happen when you are playing online? or has it happened to you while playing AEP in single player as well?

Hey Sparx,

I in no way meant that to be pointing the problem back at you. It was seriously in the best attmept at humor. If you took it the wrong way, I appologize.

Ive been looking at the other thread and the only thing I can see in common is the ASUS mobo. I am running the A7V333 with a Athalon XP1800+ and 1GB of ram. I also run an ATI Radeon 9800 Pro All In Wonder AGP card.

I am going to post in the other thread for all of you to make available your DXDIAG report. That will help with driver versions and things of that nature.

I will post more there as I hate to divide it up between two threads.
