FSX uses the TCP/IP stack for communication, therefore there can be some issues with firewall/antivirus/popup blocker software.

I have a DSL 6mbit. No popup blockers, neither firewall. I use AVG Free antivirus.
Tried to stop all useless processes too (incl. AVG tasks), but TIR still doesn't work in FSX.

Hey Vincent add me to the list of people whose TIR4 does NOT work with FSX.
I'm running v4.1.029 Alpha 3 with a fresh install of retail FSX, and NOTHING No blue light, no motion in the VC but of course all works fine with the "head" view but nothing at all in FSX.
I've killed my firewall (ZoneAlarm Pro) and A/V (AVG Free Ed) (jeez I hate doing that...) to no avail. Not running any pop-up blockers.
I've updated the games list and the entry for FSX changed from "Flight Simulator X Beta" to "Flight Simulator X"
I need you to fix this ASAP, if I'd had a clue that TIR did not work with FSX, I never would have laid down the $70 for it. It is IMPOSSIBLE for me to fly without TIR at this point. So I won't get to fly my new sim until you can get this problem fixed!
BTW, while I'm "ranting", I'd like an explanation of just why when I right-click on the FSX profile and select "Details", the only boxes checked are "Yaw" and "Pitch". Am I to assume from this that FSX will have only 2DOF???? If I look at the "Details" of the FS9 profile, ALL boxes are checked. That is not encouraging at all...

It is the way the profile is setup, it autodetects the the full 6 DOF in the applicationand has full TrackIR 6DOF in VC mode. It also has 2 DOF support in 2d-mode as well as spot view.
As for working FSX, we are currently looking at some issues, and hope to have news posted shortly.

Vincent, forgive me. Somehow it appears that I somehow got back to Alpha 2 apparently.
I had been uninstalling/reinstalling different versions with respect to that issue I mentioned to you on another post regarding the view getting "locked" looking at the floor if you look down too far and I guess that I must not have got Alpha 3 back on
At any rate I blew away whatever TIR drivers I had on, and put Alpha 3 back on and all is well Working fine! And yes, I've got 6DOF even though the profile only reports 2DOF.
Again, forgive me. I should have been more diligent in my troubleshooting, which is inexcusable since I write code for a living.
To anyone else who is having problems with FSX and TIR, let me say this:
Make absolutely sure that you are running the v4.1.029 Alpha 3 drivers!!! I thought I was, and as it turned out I wasn't, it makes all the difference!
If you're not getting the blue light and you're unsure, download and/or reinstall TrackIR_4.1.029.alpha.03.exe.
[edit]
BTW, thanks for the fast reply Vincent, as you can see I've been around here a while and I think you work harder than anyone I've seen to help us customers! It is appreciated!

It doesn't run for me. I'm running alpha 3, and I've deinstalled and installed the drivers. I've also closed all apps, including firewall and antivirus.
No success so far. It works properly with F4AF and Lomac but not with FSX.

HarryLee - Glad to hear it is working for you.
rperezlo - OK, one thing to try, had another user try a CLEAN install of FSX, i.e. full uninstall then reinstall.
Then reinstall the TrackIR software, making sure to delete the TrackIR folder after uninstalling the the TrackIR software.

Below is a copy of email sent to MS.
I won't be making any attempt to reinstall this sim for a long time to come.
I'm about to reinstall my TIR4. Is it safe to use the latest TIR drivers that have been updated for FSX or go with the previous drivers.
Gerry
Sir's.
Below is my experience with FSX.
I have 4 seperate disk drives on my pc, each with 300G capacity. One I use for op system, one for FS9 and one now for FSX.
Sat 14th. Booted up my pc. Did a flight in FSX. After, loaded up FS9 and for some reason it came up with the FS9 EULA. Clicked accept. I closed down FS9 then loaded FSX and it gave me a system error, uninstalled FSX, then did a reinstall, got to the end of the reinstall reg fonts, then hit me with error 1722(there is a problem with windows installer) tried a few times and got same error, so left it off.
Back to FS9,running fine, or so I thought. D/L the PMDG 744 sound update, went to install and it hit me with FS9 not installed. Panic set in. I have now done a complete reinstall of my PC including Windows XP. Now got all my FS9 back to as it was before. Now at this time I'm to afraid to reinstall FSX.

Should be fine to use the newest drivers.

Hi,
Profiles are all 2kb each, standard MS firewall, ending FSX or TIR first causes it to lock and has to be ended by Task Manager (not responding).
Hope it helps as I miss it
Cheers
