Hi. I now have a replacement for the TrackIR 4 & the Track Clip Pro. The camera and clip now interact, so my first bit of hardware was clearly defunct. But I STILL can't get the equipment to work as it should - I have spent some hours experimenting and feel quite deflated by now. Hope you can help:
I have the camera away from other light sources, and the tracking window picks up three green points with no visible interference. No matter what I do, the 'Heads' window is all over the place as soon as I put the clip in front of the camera. The image in the 'Your Head' screen is always turned to the right (until I take the Track Clip Pro away) and the 'In-game Head' image flicks all over the place - upside down, wrong way round.. the changes are sudden and rapid - I can't get any smooth movement at all, no matter how gently I move the clip.
I've read through the manual and edited the profiles as best I can, but no joy. In game (FS2004) the effect is ridiculous, as you can imagine. It's all over the place.
Given that this hardware set me back four times the cost of the Flight Simulator, I am really disappointed, to say the least. However, I assume for now the fault is entirely mine and that someone will be able to sort me out here and get TrackIR running smoothly! Are my profiles at fault? None of them seems to work, either 'out of the box' or tweaked. (I started with the 'Flight' profile of course).
Please help! Many thanks,
Martin

Ok, first things first....
1 - Do you have the TrackClip Pro selected in all available profiles (Flight, default, racing, etc.)?
2 - You are only using the TrackClip Pro, you are not also using the vector clip (

3 - When you have the TrackClip Pro, attached to the headset left-hand side, and pull up the View -> heads window, and recenter the view (default key is F12), What happens. Does the "Your Head" view center, as well as the "in-game Head"?

Hi again Vincent,
Your questions first:
1 - Do you have the TrackClip Pro selected in all available profiles (Flight, default, racing, etc.)?
I only had it set for the default and the flight profiles. I've now applied it to all.
2 - You are only using the TrackClip Pro, you are not also using the vector clip?
Yes, I haven't taken the vector clip out of the box yet in fact.
3 - When you have the TrackClip Pro, attached to the headset left-hand side, and pull up the View -> heads window, and recenter the view (default key is F12), What happens. Does the "Your Head" view center, as well as the "in-game Head"?
Yes, both centre OK ..
It's difficult for me to analyze (and explain) exactly what is going on here to be honest. I dare say if you could see what was happening it would be a whole lot easier! I centre the heads with F12 and then put the Track Clip Pro in front of the camera (it's about 2 arm lengths away, maybe a bit less). The picture in 'Your Head' is fairly smooth, whereas the 'In-game Head' usually twitches about in response to slow movements of the TrackClip, suddenly turning upside-down or 180 degrees round - I can't seem to turn down the responsiveness, it appears way too fast and over-reactive (especially in the 'roll' plane). After a minute or so, the 'Your Head' often becomes less easy to move too - maybe it won't turn to one side any more for instance: I have to keep pressing F12 and/or removing the USB plug for the clip/camera and replacing it to get them back under control. I've tried more than one USB port (all v.2 by the way).
Not sure either what would be the best settings for the profile for testing - what should I best put under 'acceleration for instance? Would it be an idea to send me a working profile for FS2004 that I can test out??
Thanks for your patience: believe me, TrackIR is testing mine too at the moment (but everyone says it is well worth the effort of setting up, so I'll persevere! It's probably really just a question of my getting used to it).
Regards,
Martin

One other point - in FS9 itself, the overall effect is much better than yesterday (maybe my altering the profiles?) but even when I keep my head still, the whole view (horizon too) keeps juddering rapidly from side to side, maybe 10/15 degrees each way. I can't keep the thing still. Not sure if this adds anything to your overall picture..

Hi. I am very happy to report that since I last posted, things seem to have settled down. I am not sure why - I slightly tweaked the profile (disabling 'roll' for instance), but haven't really done anything momentous. 95% of the time, the hardware works just fine (and is very impressive - but you knew that already!).
The only intermittent problems I can't fathom are:
1) a tendency for the screen to go slightly 'crazy', flicking to different views several times a second, even when I keep my head dead still. No light interference shows on the tracking screen.
2) the scenery (cockpit, horizon - everything) sometimes shakes slightly from side to side, about 10 degrees each way, again quite rapidly.
As I say, these are only intermittent problems, but I just wondered if you might have any ideas how to get rid of them completely,
(BTW, anyone found a way to attach the Track Clip Pro to a baseball cap??).
Thanks,
Martin

What Anti-virus/firewall software do you have installed?
What add-ons do you have installed?
