I am using AVG - which I have disabled.

The error message is:
Unhandled exception in TrackIR.exe (MSVCRT.DLL) 0xC000001D: Illegal Instruction.

Once the dump occurs (in FSX) the software remains unstable in other games until reboot.

What type of TSR applications do you have running in the background?

Keyboard software?

OS?

System Type?

I use FSAutoStart to terminate most of the TSRs so there is precious little running with FSX. Rig specs: Acer 9504 Pentium M760 2.0Ghz,2 Gb RAM,Win XP Home, ATI x700 256Mb.

TrackIR.exe bombs out at 0x77c4cb5a after about 30secs - 1 minute of flying. I have uninstalled .NET Framework 3.0 and all copies of MSVCRT.DLL are version 7.0.2600.2180 created 29/07/2005 size 335kb

Did that, same problem, same dll, same instruction. 1 minute into default flight- bam.

I do not believe it is the TrackIR software Vincent - I have been using it for ages. Maybe my copy of the dll is corrupt...

Vincent, after much investigation and head-scratching I am beginning to suspect Visual Studio as the culprit. I am going to install the latest service patches and hope it restores MSVCRT.DLL.

I'll let you know...

Also - many many thanks for your time and effort on this - especially as it is probably not your fault!

I think I may have caused the problem when uninstalling various items from my computer. I may have caused shared files to be removed...

I have reinstalled Windows, etc etc and now all is well.

A little knowledge is a dangerous thing...

Thanks for your help Vincent!
