Saitek software running?
Have you tried testing without the joystick installed?

No, I don't run the Saitek software. I have not yet tried unplugging my X52.
After you asked me what other programs were running, I closed them all. I have never run BS without other apps open. So far, it's working, several missions in a row. I'm scared to shut down TrackIR in case it's something else.

It's back to failing again after I had to reboot.
Of note: I can't close the app? I don't know how long this has been going on, because I never have to close it, since it crashes. Well I tried closing it and the popup asks if I'm sure I want to exit. I say yes and it hangs and I have to kill the process.
Also, when uninstalling the software through the control panel, the process never seems to finish. I have to kill the add/remove programs app. If I reopen the add.remove programs window, TrackIR is no longer in the list, but it seems like something is hanging with the uninstall.

Are you running any Anti-virus/Firewall software?
In the following folder location, C:\Program Files\NaturalPoint\TrackIR4\Profiles, what is the file size for each profile?

I've uninstalled my anti-virus software completely. I am not running any kind of firewall, and the default Windows firewall is disabled.
The profiles are either 2kb or 4kb (two of each size).

I have gotten it to work again. Uninstall would still hang, but I removed NaturalPoint directory and deleted all Registry keys associated with Naturalpoint. Then I stopped every startup program (well, disabled them from starting at startup) and rebooted, followed by 10th install of TrackIR.

So far so good. Will see what happens over time.

Still working, with a caveat. When I close the TracIR app, it hangs, and I have to do the whole "end now" routine. But after that it starts again and still works.

Connected directly to the PC, or using a hub?
