HarryLee - Glad to hear it is working for you.

rperezlo - OK, one thing to try, had another user try a CLEAN install of FSX, i.e. full uninstall then reinstall.

Then reinstall the TrackIR software, making sure to delete the TrackIR folder after uninstalling the the TrackIR software.
I unplugged the trackir unit.Uninstalled FSX and trackir. Deleted everything that i could find that wasn't uninstalled. Cleaned my registry. Restarted the computer. Turned of all security (McAfee and XP). Installed FSX and trackir. Plugged the unit. Did the gameupdate. Started trackir and FSX. Blue light goes on, FSX is highlighted in profiles.

But still no response in FSX.

I heard that the hatswitch is disabled when using trackir. My hatswitch keeps on working, even when toggling the F9 button.

hope you can help

Greetz

OK, this is one of the issues we are currently looking at.

The issue is that the TrackIR is talking to part of FSX, hence the blue light, but that part isn't "talking" with another part of the application, hence the trackir not moving your head in VC mode.

Vincent, I did as you asked and nothing happenned (and as another poster said: full uninstall, clean up and reinstall). Even the blue light was off.

Then I remembered that you said that the communication between TrackIR and FSX was through TCP/IP, and I had set the firewall to block the internet access of FSX (I do this to every program to check when or why are they accessing to the internet), I changed the firewall setting to 'Allow all access' for FSX and the blue light came on.

Turning off the firewall, as I told you in my previous post that I had done, would have the same effect. But I probably turned it off AFTER FSX was already loading, too late because FSX probably had already checked and would not try TCP/IP again until it was restarted.

Now, blue LED is ON but it still won't move in the game. In any case, I thought that it would be useful for you to know the effect of the firewall on this communication and how to avoid its effect without having to shut it down.

To rperezlo and anyone else having trouble with FSX/TIR:

rperezlo you beat me to it! Was gonna post about the firewall access issue, Vincent has "hinted" at firewall issues but never came out and mentioned anything specific.

Last night TIR/FSX were working perfectly (1st night I had FSX installed), tonight NADA The difference was, last night I allowed the TIR software to access the internet to get the latest game profiles after reinstalling Alpha 3.

And tonight, I denied TIR access to internet, since I am a paranoid little <censored>...

And of course, I had no blue light, and no tracking control in FSX. As soon as I allowed TIR internet access, it worked like a champ!

I had already granted unconditional access to FSX so I can download real-world weather, in this case it was the TIR access that was the issue.

Bottom line, both TIR and FSX need unconditional access if you're behind a firewall. I can't explain the logic behind this, I never had to grant TIR access with FS9. But whatever works, right?

Try granting both of 'em access in your firewall, then try again and see what happens. It's not enough to give only FSX access, has to be both.

Add me to the list guys!

Freshly built Windows MCE 2005 with all patches, FS9 installed less than a week ago, Track IR installed and FS9 works (and still works) beautifully. FSX picked up yesterday, installed last night. Installed latest TIR software (using TIR 4 Pro hardware). During install the only check box I didn't select was the FS2002 box.

"Heads" works fine. Start FSX, and after a good one to two minutes the blue LED pops up. F9 forces LED to go amber. But absolutely no activity from moving my head in the virtual cockpit works regardless of the LED's color

The hat on my Cyborg EFO joystick works (blech!)

Comcast includes latest McAfee anti virus and firewall, and disabling those make no difference.

Four files are in the Profiles sub-directory, 2k each. Drivers folder has three files, npusb64.sys (2-14-2006), npusb3.inf & npusb.sys (both 7-7-2006). TrackIR.exe shows in Properties as 4.1.29.0 (Oct. 9th, 2006).

Great stuff Harry, wish it worked for me.
- McAfee shows full access for FSX and TrackIR programs.
- while running TIR and FSX, only FSX shows as an active internet application in McAfee. Should I see TIR?

Otherwise, as stated before, blue led, amber LED if F9 is toggled, green LED disappears if TIR headset is moved out of site.

Puzzled in Colorado...

I'm also using McAffee. May that be the problem? I don't think so, because disabling it doesn't help, but it would be good if people with this problem reports if they are using it in order to rule it out.

I'm also using McAfee.

Maybe I have to do a uninstall of McAfee tonight.

All good information, thanks.

As for what is going on, I'm leaning toward a TCP/IP issue, but the developers are still looking into the issue. The main sticking point is the fact that the blue light comes on indicating that the TrackIR is talking with FSX on some level. So we are still troubleshooting, and hope to have an answer soon..........

ok - here are the news from the german front ;-)

Im not unsing McAfee, i have the windows firewall and nod32 for a/v installed.

After even not getting the blue light turned on in fsx, i decided to make a total clean install of windows xp... Finishing windows-installation with all new drivers, updates etc., installing trackir 29.a3 and fsx here is the result:

Blue light and TrackIR still not working on FSX

New problem:
Cant close TrackIR-Software (problem is already known)

In consequence: New windows, but 1 problem more than less ;-)

Already disabled Firewall and Nod32, no change at all

My specifications:

AMD4800+
ATI X850PE
ASUS A8N-SLI Deluxe
Terratec 7.1Space
Windows XP Pro SP2
TrackIR 3 Pro + Vector

FSX Deluxe

Looking forward to your solution!!!
