Made a new attempt once more with beta4 driver, and now they work well, no fps drop like earlier. Don't know what caused the fps drop earlier on, but now all is OK.
Sorry for the confusion.

Derek, maybe you should enable "roll" in your profile. In your screenshot it's empty.

Thanks for the suggestion Uffe, I gave it a try but unfortunately I did not notice any improvement. I disable roll because I find it to be superfluous in the game which I use the TrackIR the most (FSX), although I would have gladly renabled it if it fixed the problem.

Just installed the new beta 4 driver. But.. It didn't work, the device don't turn on, the blur led is blinking.

for some reason my windows XP SP2 won't accept the new USB driver for the device. maybe that's the reason for the malfunction.

Did some of you experience this problem?

Thanks

IMM2 - please send me the following information directly...

What is the Serial # of the device?
It should be located on the end of the cable, near the USB plug, or on the underside of the device.

Could you send us a copy of the Setupapi.log file?
It should be located in the C:\Windows folder

Have you tried the device on another system?

Are you plugging in directly to the system, or are you using a hub?

Have you tried isolating the device on the USB ports?

Could you attach a screen shot of your device manager, and tracking screen?

To make Print Screen work, you must save an image of what's displayed on-screen to the clipboard and then paste it into a document where it can be printed.

Windows Help: Print Screen

To do this, follow this procedure:

1. Maximize the window you'd like to capture.
2. To copy/capture the current window, hold down ALT + Print Scrn at the same time. To capture the entire screen, just press Print Scrn alone.
3. Open a new document in MS Paint, MS Word, MS Photo Editor, or Adobe PhotoShop.
4. Paste the screen shot by holding down CTRL and V at the same time.
5. Save the document as a .JPG or .JPEG file and send it in.

Have you tried turn off any kind of power save feature for your USB ports?

In the "Device Manager" you can right click the "USB Hub"(s) that show and turn off the power saving feature that turn those ports off when idle. Sometimes that has an impact on the connectivity of the devices.

Derek_D -

How close to the TrackIR unit are you?

Try adjusting it back slightly more.

The front of my cap is situated 3.5 to 4 feet from the sensor. I've tried moving back to a distance of over 5 feet with no difference in behavior.

Honestly I'm starting to get a little frustrated, I feel like I'm being given the roundaround when the issue should be well documented by now. It seems like there is a refusal to accept this is a driver issue. I realize not everyone is experiencing the problem which makes debugging more difficult, but the fact that there have been others reporting the exact same behavior should be enough of an indication that the problem isn't on the user's end. The drivers I've been using for the past year with FS2004 worked perfectly with the exact same TrackIR configuration I'm using now. The only thing that has changed recently is the drivers, which I must install for compatibility with FSX.

As a suggestion for future driver releases, would it not be more practical to separate the game support component of the drivers from the tracking algorithm component, so that those of us who are not content with the latest driver performance can use the drivers that work best and still have support in the games we want to play?

Well, FSX does it differently than any other game application, so it had to be written into the new additions of the software.

We are not trying to "blow" you off, or give you the run around. It is that your issue is getting more and more isolated, as we have had other people say that the newest version of the software resolved their issue. Which means it isn' set to one particular issue, and therefore will require different remedies.
