Flaming Cliffs problem with trackir
Re: Flaming Cliffs problem with trackir
Tried moving USB ports?
You are using 4.1.036 version of the software?
Had you done a clean install?
Tried isolating the TrackIR device, on the USB ports?

Yes.
Yes.
Not yet; on the agenda for this evening.
???
Not sure what you mean by "isolating". I assume you mean "do not use a hub" or "direct connect it to the motherboard" which I have done.

Isolate - remove as many other USB devices as possible
Re: Flaming Cliffs problem with trackir
Alright, Isolate,...got it. Nothing but TrackIR, a Logitech joystick and a Razer Diamondback mouse on the USB ports.
Well,...the problem still persists after a clean install. Uninstalled TIR (latest version) and Lock-on. Rebooted as requested. Reinstalled Lock-on + FC + patch 1.12b and TrackIR 4.1.036. Launched TIR and then LO. I didn't even touch any options in LO,...just left it vanilla. Jumped into the A10 mission and heard the alert in the background letting me know TIR crashed. Again, even with the crash TrackIR operates (for one mission only). I flew a quick mission, dropped to the menu and quit the application to find the familiar TIR dialog which, again, was completely locked up.
Now, I'm not sure if it's me, TIR, or LO but something's definitely broken. I suspect it's either me or LockOn.
I think Friday evening I'll try a freshly formatted spare drive, reinstall Windows and then give LO and TIR another go. At least that will let me know if it's something on my current production hard drive.

Re: Flaming Cliffs problem with trackir
No Logitech software,...I'll have to check and see about Razer software and get back later tonight or tomorrow.
Re: Flaming Cliffs problem with trackir
OK. I finally got my RMA drive back from Seagate (but that's a whole other story).
Fresh WindowsXP Pro install. SP3 and patched to current.
Latest Nvidia Graphics driver for 8800GT
Latest TIR software and applications update
Fresh LO FC 1.12b install.
No other drivers or software besides Adobe Flash, Google Chrome, and Explorer 7 (from the SP3 install).
Now here's the sad face,...exactly the same problem again. TIR works for the first go and then crashes.
I'm really thinking this might have something to do with my motherboard? I'm running an ASUS P5K-VM latest firmware, an E8400 processor, 2 Gigs DDR2 and that's about it.
I also just purchased Black Shark and, though I installed it on a Vista 64 drive, I get a problem there too. TIR crashes before I enter a mission.
Would you like me FedEx you my rig so you can have a look?
=)

Re: Flaming Cliffs problem with trackir
When loading the games such as Black Shark, do you also have the TrackIR software windows up, and displaying the heads/tracking window open?
Re: Flaming Cliffs problem with trackir
TrackIR window is always open.
I've tried heads open and closed and tracking open and closed.
For giggles, I'm going to try and put an old USB2/Firewire PCI card in over the weekend.
