Not at this current time, the only way to bypass the head tracking in 2-d mode and spot view, is to pause the TrackIR software.Andy, after a fresh install try not selecting any exclusive check box. In profiles set the auto profile for Flight Simulator X to what ever you want but do not select any exclusive auto load. It may not have any effect but unselecting the auto news feature and unselecting the exclusive load allowed the blue light to come on and I have head movement in 2D, VC and spot view.
My question to Vincent is can we get rid of the movement in spot view. I would much prefer to have the use of Track IR in the cockpit only.
Thanks, Tom

Re: FSX Install
Very good tips, and we appreciate the infoSame as LoneFlyer and Sgt.Baker. After uninstalling the McAffee Privacy Service TrackIR works fine at last in FSX.
I've read somewhere that you can wrap the TCP/IP stack in XP with custom applications. If the wrapper is not properly coded it may function well for its own purposes (i.e. add a Privacy Service) but screw other functionalities. As this TCP/IP communication between processes is not a commonly used feature it has probably passed all McAffee quality checks despite being badly coded. Do a Google search with this and you'll find that this problem is not only happenning to TrackIR but to some other programs, and it has been happenning from a long time ago.
The reason why a 'disable' doesn't work is because even if the wrapper is disabled it is still there wrapping the TCP stack.
Resume of things to try:
- If blue light is off, make sure that both TrackIR and FSX have full internet access in your firewall. This is before you uninstall anything.
- If TrackIR hangs on exit, same as before plus uncheck 'News check' in the TrackIR menu.
- If you have McAffee, blue light is on in FSX but it doesn't respond to head movement, uninstall Privacy Service (not only disable it, you have to uninstall it).
- If you have other PS/FW/AV, blue light is on in FSX but it doesn't respond to head movement, try to unistall PS/FW/AV and see what happens.
This checklist is not comprehensive but it's a good starting point. Most of the problems seem to have been fixed this way.
Good luck.
Re: FSX Install
Hi,
Just wondering if this issue was still being looked at? I've tried the 'news' fix and allowing access in my firewall but still cant get it to work...and I miss it (stamps feet ) no offence intended.
Many thanks
Mike

Re: FSX Install
What kind of firewall are you using?
Are you getting the blue light on the TrackIR when FSX is running?

Hi,
Using MS std firewall.
Get the green light at the top of the unit to come on but no blue light at the bottom.
Cheers

Re: FSX Install
Yep, we are still looking into the issue. The main thing is that it hasn't been consistent as to what is causing it.
Re: FSX Install
Thats good to hear - its a great bit of kit.

We hope to have more information posted shortly.
Re: FSX Install
Thought I would throw in my initial tests. Tried installing the latest FSX alpha version to see if it would work on my system. It did not. Could not even get the blue indicator light to go on. So I gave up for a few days.
Then, after making a few of the so called "tweaks" in FSX I got interested in trying again. Un-installed TrackIR and then re-installed. Did not even reboot. And this time it worked!?
Have no idea why. Can't recall installing anything new.
Read about the issue with the 2-D views. I did make a work-around for me by using a rocker switch on my CH yoke handle as a pause button whenever I cycle through views. OK for now as FS9 is still my sim of choice but you guys will need to fix that IMHO. For me that would be a deal killer if I was buying a new one. Other than that is seems to work fine in FSX and n FS2004.
My system:
Intel P4 3.4 Prescott
2Gig DDR2 Ram
ATI X800XT All-In-Wonder AGP
Asus motherboard
Windows XP Pro Sp2
CH Yoke, pedals, Throttle Quadrant
Hope that helps a little. Good luck.

Hi All,
Ok upto now I've had no luck with TIR and FSX but now I've got it to work fine - I uninstalled the app and then reinstalled, deselected update news and it worked straight away Could this be due to allowing access in the firewall under the first install and then after the reinstall the firewall is allowing access straight away?? Not sure but its the only thing I have done...
Cheers
