Re: No function in CFS3

I came to this thread with the same problem, since I recently got a TIR4 for Xmas to go along with FSX (howyadoon Vincent, think we've talked before at another foum out there )and also have been a VERY long-time player of CFS3.....which, when I finally tried it, had ZIP functionality as described here.
I read the solutions and responses, and decided to try something since at least part of the issue seems driver-related and you, Vincent, can't duplciate it....which of course points to system-specific issues.
Since I keep my registry very clean and don't expect corruption there, but rather a device driver or background conflict, I ran the "SmartClose" utility which any CFS3 or - certainly - FSX owner should have in their toolbox.
To make a long story short, SmartClose takes a snapshot of what's on your system and kills ALL unecessary processes. Then, when run again, it does a wonderful job of reloading them so you are right back to where you were in the "snapshot". Excellent for freeing up processing overhead and reducing conflicts. Not to mention FREE - Google search for it, and live happily.
Anyhoo....just wanted to say that for me, it was the cure. Ran SmartClose, let it take a snapshot and kill unnecessary processes (first option in the applet), launched TIR4 software, launched CFS3, and....Works like a champ - and smooth?? Like Butta!!!!
So, NO, there is no real conflict with TIR4, FSX, CFS3....truly the thing to think "long and hard about" is system configuration and background process conflicts.
And by the way I have been a CFS3 user since it's initial release in the Fall of 2002 and also have two installs of FS9, one install of FSGW3 on top of that, and FSX Deluxe, all running quite well and now all working with TIR4 to boot! The only problem between any of them is that uninstalling the FSX Demo can result in deleted registry entries for FS9, but thankfully there are fixes for that when it occurs (as it definitely did to me).
