I don't know if this has been asked before, did a search and could not find.
Is their a way to use trackir in the external view, so we can preform preflight checks on the outside of the aircraft?
I would like to simulate preflighting the outside of the airplane.

I don't believe this is possible. TrackIR functionality is tied to the virtual cockpit, so use outside of the plane is likely removed.

just to add that have recently purchased trackir and also use fsx.
i can view the aircraft externally by pressing f11 and moving my head left and right.
also moving forward and back to zoom in and out.

but this recently and fixes with update 5.2 final
