Delay to center or pause

I have recently bought trackir and am impressed apart from one thing: there is a considerable delay (3-5 seconds) when centering or pausing using a joystick button. Is this normal or can I adjust a setting somewhere? This delay is too long and the transition was instantaneous in the free alternative I was previously using. I have an i7 2600k CPU and 8 GB RAM in 64-bit Windows 7.

That doesn't sound normal. The button presses should take effect immediately. Do you notice a delay when using the keyboard for these functions? What type of joystick is it?

Thanks for the reply, Mike. Good thought - it is instantaneous with the keyboard. The controller is one of Leo Bodnar's BU0836X cards, see below. Any ideas how I can fix this?

Okay, that's definately neat.
Do you have the same delay with a joystick to keyboard program? Does that delay exist when running your sim?

JoyToKey gets it working perfectly in both the TrackIR software and the sim. Thanks very much!
