Looking up and down in VC

I just got TrackIR 5 and I have it installed and it works in FSX. My problem is I can't look far enough down and over to see my throttle quadrant/radios without hitting a dead-spot, and I can't look up and over to see my entire overheard panel without hitting a dead-spot as well. I've done several searches, tried tweaking with the software, downloaded other users FSX profiles, and I still can't solve the problem. I had TrackIR 4 a few years ago and sold it because I just couldn't get comfortable using the VC in Flight Sim. I'm trying to give it another go here so any help is greatly appreciated.

P.S. I'm using the latest version of the TrackIR software, I have the camera on top of my monitor approximately 2 feet from my head, and I have my chair adjusted so the clip is level with the camera. Thank you.

What are your speed and smoothing set to in TrackIR?

Speed is 0.1 and smoothing is at 50.

At those settings I'm surprised you can move at all!

Try setting speed back to 1 and smoothing back to 10. These are the defaults. Carefully adjust them over a few days as you use the system to come to comfortable values.

Speed is essentially a global multiplier on degrees of movement in real life vs degrees of movement in game, and smoothing applies some filtering to remove jitter. I'd recommend getting a good speed dialed in before even touching smoothing.

I found it difficult to click around the cockpit with default settings. I'll start back from there and try again making adjustments like you recommended and see if I can't find something that works. Also, I have the TrackClip Pro. Does that offer any real advantage over the hat clip other than being able to attach it to a headset? Thanks again.

It does offer some increased range of movement, as well as offload the IR LEDs from the camera to the clip, which can reduce camera heat generation (not too terribly big of an issue, but never a bad thing).

If you're having issues clicking in the cockpit, Perhaps try a convenient keybind for TrackIR pause so that you can look at a switch, pause trackir to freeze your screen on that, click the switch, then unpause to get head tracking back.
