Hello all - I'm new to the whole forum thing, so please be patient. I have spent a couple hours searching the forum for my problem with no luck, so it's entirely possible I'm not doing something right:-)

My issue is I've tried to use TrackIR 5 with Nascar 2003 and latest NR2003 patch, 1.2.0.1. I bring up the TrackIR software and everything is working fine, I calibrate and center the cameras using the default profile, and minimize the TrackIR window.

I start NR2003 and I get two green lights, yet once I'm in the driver's seat there's no response to my head movements. (My DCS A-10C sim works fine with TrackIR 5 in comparison.) I've searched online until I had blood shooting out of my eyes and I can't seem to find any concrete info regarding what's necessary to get this working, but only that it's supposed to work. I found something about the PPJoy drivers and TIRJoy application. Is that still necessary as I thought NR2003 was TrackIR enhanced with the 1.2.0.1 patch? Anyway, I tried that approach as well, and the PPJoy driver would not work properly under Windows 7 64-bit..

Not sure if this makes any difference, but I'm running NR2003 in XP SP2 compatibility mode as administrator under Windows 7 in order to get it to work.

I spent about 4 or 5 hours tweaking NR2003 to even get IT working in Windows 7 last night, for the express purpose of experiencing the game with TrackIR 5. Game looks amazing with NVidia tweaks on my 46" monitor, real 7.1 surround sound is working great, and TrackIR is the last piece of the dang puzzle and it just ain't hapnin. So, if anyone can help dig me out of my depression at the moment and tell me what I'm missing here, I'd be ever so grateful! Thanks!

Windows 7 Professional 64-bit, all current updates applied.
TrackIR V5.1.300 Build(9945).
Nascar Racing 2003 Season V1.2.0.1, DirectX D3D, 1920x1080.

There are two very important notes on the function of TrackIR in Nascar 2003 on our support page, here.

Specifically, it only works in 1.2.0.1 and higher (which you have), as well as in Direct3D mode only (head tracking will not work in OpenGL mode).

In case anyone else has this problem - the trick was running BOTH the NR2003 and TrackIR sofware as administrator, as Mike kindly suggested via email. After starting both as administrator, with the 1.2.0.1 NR2003 patch in place, and using the Direct 3D renderer in NR2003, tracking worked flawlessly!
