6 flex13 vs 12 V100:R2

just based on data accuracy, which is the better set up, six Flex13's or Twelve V100:R2's?

Also, the "Stands" diagram under the Arena bundles shows a three stand triangle for the 6 camera setup. But, the tutorial videos show a hexagonal, 6 stand setup. Will I need 3 stands or 6 for a 6 camera setup?

I'd probably recommend 6 stands so you can get a bit more occlusion proofing.

Speaking of which, that's a major component of the answer to the first one.

Flex 13 cameras are great for the resolution and the range that you can get out of them, and 6 of them will give you a better volume than 6 V100R2's. The problem with comparing a 6 camera Flex13 volume to a 12 camera R2 volume comes when considering occlusion. Our systems run off of line of sight, so additional objects can severely impact the detection of markers in low camera count systems (especially when tracking multiple actors), so if this is the case and you have to decide between one or the other, a smaller, higher camera count r2 volume would beat a larger, lower camera count Flex13 volume. If occlusion is not a factor, it's a bit of a toss up.

Thanks for the help Mike. One more question, does Arena let you combine different camera types in one rig? Say, 6 flex13's and 6 V100:R2's?

Flex 13 cameras can only run with other Flex 13 cameras, and will not work with V100, V100R2, or V120 slims. This is due to a major revision in the position of the exposure period within the frame time that causes issues when synced with earlier models.

V100 and V100R2 cameras, however, can work with eachother without issue as long as they are synchronized properly.
