TrackIR 5 "No device detected" message

Hi,

I just got a TrackIR 5 today and, of course, I immediately wanted to test it out. I followed all the steps as described in the manual. Tried the TrackIR 5 in rFactor, worked without problems. However, after some time of testing the TrackIR suddenly stopped working. A complete blackout. The executable of TrackIR also worked properly, but now it won't give any results, just saying "no device detected". The lights won't show up. I've spent many hours trying different methods, tried unistalling, trying older version of drivers, nothing helps. I also checked for the TrackIR -device in the device manager, but there wasn't one. There even wasn't the "unknown" -device. Windows doesn't even notify about the device when I plug it in, it only notified when I plugged it in for the first time.

How to solve this problem? I've also tried running the programs as an administrator, and I have turned UAC off. I also tried disabling the power saving of the USB's from the device manager.

Please reply soon, I'm desperate!

My OS is Win7 64-bit, and I'm using an AMD Radeon HD card which drivers are up-to-date.

...and on a side note I have to say that I got the TrackIR completely NEW, not used. Just a day old and now encountering issues...

Hello -

I'd recommend plugging it into another computer to see if it lists, even as an unknown device, in the device manager. If not, contact support@naturalpoint.com and we can look into the warranty.

Tried to plug it in our laptop's USB port, but it gives no notification, and doesn't install the files for the device. Also it didn't list on the device manager, didn't see any "unknown" -named. But because we bought it from a local shop in Finland, we'll have to exchange it via the shop we bought it from.

Correct. I'd recommend getting in touch with your dealer for warranty information.

Hi, we did get an offer for a change, but it took too long for them to get the device to the shop, so we cut the deal and bought the same device from another store two days ago, and it arrived today :)
