Video taping mocap sessions

We have an optitrak system with optihub1's, and want to be able to tape our mocap sessions for reference on inexpensive external video cameras. Ideally, we'd trigger these cameras to record whenever the mocap cameras are switched on.

I know that there is an external sync socket on the optihubs, but as we have no advanced video experience (we are a video game company), we have no idea how we would use this, or even what cameras could be used, if some sort of control box is needed, what cable types are needed etc. Is there a resource that we could be pointed towards or some sort of quick and easy guide to help us accomplish our goal or is this not even going to be possible?

Thanks,

Al

You can use a filter switching camera or an external attached webcam to record synchronized data within arena. Just right click on the camera in the project explorer and set it to record scene video. It should export dependent on your installed codecs.

Does the external web cam need to be connected to a usb port in an optihub? We have an 18 camera system and 3 optihubs, so presumably we'd need to add another hub? And by project explorer, I take it you mean the Assets panel on the lhs of Arena?

Nope, no optihub required here. Yes, the project explorer would be the assets panel, live playback has to be off.
