Problem with TIR5

This was working a week ago, but today, I'm stumped.
I have the TIR 5 with the TrackClip Pro. Up to today, I have not had any problems with it. But today, it simply won't start. I have tried plugging into a different USB port on the motherboard, I've uninstalled and re-installed the latest version of TIR software, rebooted the computer, nothing works.
I double-click the TIR icon and Task Manager shows TIR5 running but the TIR icon does not show up in the taskbar; I had set my TIR program to start minimized to taskbar. Even after reinstall and reboot, same behavior --- I don't see the TIR icon.
Obviously, it doesn't work in games.
Any of the lights/LEDs don't seem to turn on either, though I can see the LEDs from the TrackClip Pro emitting a slight red light. Using the reflectors does not generate any response from TIR either.
Any help appreciated. I'm running Win7 Home Premium, i5 750, HD 6970, 8GB RAM. Nothing has changed since last week, though the PC has probably downloaded updated drivers or some such since then.

I've also checked my CCC and triple buffering is NOT ticked in OpenGL settings.

I just confirmed that it seems like my computer is the problem... I transferred my son's TIR4 to my PC and it doesn't work. I transferred my TIR5 to my son's PC and it works with no problems. Any idea what's causing this? His PC has a HD 5770 and we have the same CCC version number (latest version).

I've browsed around the forums a bit more and I can verify that:
1. TIR shows up in Device Manager as NaturalPoint Devices -> NaturalPoint TrackIR5.
2. My VirtualStore folder (C:\Users\[username]\AppData\Local\VirtualStore) is empty. I don't have any other accounts and don't have a user password on this computer.
3. I have unplugged the camera, uninstalled the program, deleted the old install folder, re-installed the latest version by right-click and "Run as Admin", got the "driver not certified" error but told Windows 7 to install anyway, plugged in the camera, the devices are recognized and installed and appear on Device Manager as stated in #1.... still no green/red lights, still no icon on the system tray.

What happens when you run the TrackIR program? Does it do anything? Does an error window pop up (even for a second)? Does anything get logged in either the application or system log in your event viewer?

There is no pop up window, nothing. I do not know how to make sense of the event viewer. Any instructions would be appreciated.

There's a good walkthrough
here. Try starting TrackIR, then load the event viewer and check windows logs - application and windows logs - system for errors around the time you tried loading trackir. They're sorted by time, newest first, so anything should be near the top. Post any related errors or send them in email to
support@naturalpoint.com and we can see if windows is logging anything relevant.
As a side note, have you tried the 4.x software?

Okay, what's going on here??!! I've uninstalled TIR5, checked and cleaned with CCleaner, reboot, installed as admin, and TIR5 still won't work, won't show up in the system tray, but will show in Task Manager -> Processes.
Downloaded and installed TIR4.1.038 alongside my TIR5 install, double-click, and it's running straight away! I see the red LEDs, and the green lights come on when I wave my TrackClip around.
So it's just my TIR5 software that's borked!! Whew, at least I'm glad it definitely isn't my TIR camera or TrackClip, but what the hell is going on with TIR5?
Mike, I will take a look at that link and will send an email regarding any errors or logs.
Can anyone tell me what I'm missing if I use TIR4 software with my TIR5 camera and TrackClip? I'm willing to live with TIR4 software for now, but hope to fix whatever's wrong with my current setup.

It's possible that there's an issue or conflict with something else on your system. I'd recommend waiting for the next release of TrackIR 5.x software, as it will have a different installation engine attached to it that may help.
