do you know if smartnav will work on a communicattion device, that have a usb and it is windows base thank you

What type of device?
SmartNav should work on any device that runs Windows 98 or higher, as well as has a USB port and supports mouse input. Windows CE or mobile environments will not work.

It should, from their features page:
USB connectivity allows use of headpointing systems, mouse, joystick and mouse emulation access products.
