FSX-Setting View Upon Startup & Losing Settings

I would like FSX to open with approximately 40% zoom. I think that would mean I would have to adjust an axis that put my virtual head
further away from from the instruments. I tried a number of things...obviously all wrong...because nothing changed. Is this possible?
Also...a bigger problem is that TrackIR does not save the center position and the template setting upon closing then reopening even though I Save before closing. I have the latest version of TrackIR5.
