is it working?

So far so good... I think... some questions though (and I have the enhanced flag set to "1" in FB as the readme says to do):

1. When in FB I'm not sure if I'm operating in enhanced mode or mouse mode. Is the proof of which mode you are in whether the mouse works at the same time as your head? I.E. if both will pan the view you are in mouse mode and if only your head moves the view you are in enhanced mode?

2. I've seen that Jim and another user have said how "smooth" it is. My experience so far hasn't been very smooth at all. I'm still working with the settings of course but I honestly haven't seen the "speed" or "smooth" settings change anything in the game so far which is why I asked the previous question. Maybe I'm not in the right mode.

2b. How distinct should the dead zone be for the default dead zone setting? I'm hoping there should be quite a bit of dead zone (at least a real head movement of a 1/2 inch or so I would think of course depending on your settings).

Could someone post their "smooth" settings here that I could copy?

I also believe that your frame rate in the game affects how smooth it pans. I'm getting about 30fps at the low end (never below and usually above that).

Couple more thoughts after working with it:
- I've figured out it is working in enhanced mode... just expected different settings I guess
- I think I've had a couple things confused because of the difference in mouse mode vs. enhanced mode. In enhanced mode the "speed" is simply that - the speed it moves, but in mouse mode this impacts how far your range of motion is with a given head movement. I thought that would still apply in enhanced mode but it seems like the cockpit viewable "dimensions" are fixed in FB and this speed slider doesn't affect that. I get it now.
- having said that I wish the "smoothness" slider would affect things more as I don't see much difference all the way up to 120. As I said it could be the framerate making it choppy and not the panning it's hard to tell. Cranking down the graphics seeeems to make it a little better but not much.
- My concept of a "1/2 inch" of head movement was way off... you need a full half of the range field all the way at 0 to get that which I have done. Works well.

Very cool product though!

Ive noticed that mine is a bit weird when it comes to modes.

Make sure you have a profile setup for FB with the enhanced mode selected. Sale the profile and then use the drop down bar on the right to select it for FB.

Once your in the game, STR-ALT-DEL or ALT-TAB out of the game and bring up the NP software and in the bottom right hand corner, make sure it still reads TrackIR and not Mouse. If it reads mouse, hit your mode key to change it to TIR and go back in game and try then.

I didnt like deadband setting. I use SMOOTH and it works perfect with my smoothing set to 75.

I'm sure I've got it working now, just tweaking for usability. I just can't use it without some dead zone as when I go in for the shot every little twitch shows up for me even with the smooth setting. I currently created a custom dead band that literally has 0 for the entire middle half of the axis, followed by a VERY gentle up ramp with the highest fringes at 12.
I also have the smoothing set to the full 120.

Without these settings it isn't "smooth" at all.
And my head movement just moves too much across the field of view. I'm going for a very smooth and "gentle" panning. Any kind of choppyness makes the graphics so ...well... choppy... that I get major eye strain and a bit nausiated.

I've tested both mouse mode and enhanced and I see no difference in the smoothness between them when panning. I've even turned on vsync in the graphics card hoping for less "sharding" of the image but it didn't change anything.
