TrackIR 5 in X-plane 10.21?

Hi folks.
I just purchased a TrackIR 5. The TrackIR software (versions 4 and 5) works perfectly, but I can't get X-plane to connect to it. Any advice other than clicking on the TrackIR support check-box within X-plane and typing control-o?
By the way, I am running X-plane 10.21 (tried with 32 and 64 bit) on a computer running 64 bit Windows 7 ultimate.
