Can somebody please give me a brief exlanation on what is actualy "Dead zone".
It does not seem that it makes any difference at various settings.
My understanding is that the software should recognise automaticly IL2 BF as a suported absolute mode game. Then why when I start the game each time I have to press F8 to enable absolute mode?
When I finish my Flying session and exit to desktop the mode is stuck to absolute althoug
status mode showes mouse emulation. Have to press F8 again to actualy enable mouse emulation.
What is the default seting for FB as per no profile enabled just loading the game and presing F8? Is that what Oleg concidered the best settings?
I do have a P4, win Xp home, 2.01 b installed.?

As far as I know hitting F-8 is normal. I have to in hit F-8 in both IL-2 FB and in FS-2002.

I haven't figured out the deadzone setting either. I don't see any difference when I put it on DZ, but I haven't messed with it much. It works very well for me no matter what I set it to, so I have just left it alone and use it like it is.

I thought the DZ would make it so I had to move a good bit before the unit started tracking, but I can't tell that this is working. Anyway, it is still much better in FB than it was in IL-2, much easier to control and it returns to center like it should. So, I'm very happy with it.

Maybe someone that has messed with the setting more than I have will shed some light on the subject.

Enhanced mode is the only mode in which deadzones will work.

"Deadzone setting" in the Motion presets is simply a default setting which has the speedsettings adjusted lower at centre position to prevent unwanted headmovements to be registered when your view is centred.

E.g. you can set low speeds around the centre position then build up the speeds at points further away from centre position. You can choose the points with "Edit points" (+ or -).
You can always customize this setting to your own liking. Experiment to find out what works best for yourself. The lower speedsetting, the bigger the deadzone at that specific point.

I personally don't like any deadzones at all so i choose a linear response in the Motion presets.

Is this why Track IR is so hard to use in IL-2? I'm still flying IL-2 because some squadmates have not installed FB yet, but Track IR is all over the place in IL-2. The absolute mode in FB is great, but I'm kinda surprised that Track IR caught on as well as it did in IL-2 withouth it.
