Mushy?

Hey there, just grabbed TrackIR 5 plus pro clip.
Set it up for ARMA 2/3 & DayZ.
Love it BTW, I have been used to the ALT key and Free-look which I use extensively all of the time for SA, so the head turn from TrackIR feels a bit mushy and less precise at the moment. Any pointers on how to get it a bit more precise feeling? or am I just going to have to get used to it.
Also, what is the consensus on using the head to ZOOM IN or just use sticking the the 2nd mouse button?
Cheers

Hello motorwayne,
First off, I'm glad to hear that you are enjoying TrackIR. Secondly, If you feel that the camera is too mushy you need to turn your smoothness down. Smoothing is used to stabilize head movement as it is converted into in-game view control. Increasing the amount of smoothing will provide a steadier view, while decreasing the smoothing will make panning the view more responsive. Smoothing adjustments are global and will be applied to all profiles, so make sure it is set the way you want it. You can set it to be more responsive and then use the precision hotkey (F7 by default) to temporarily increase smoothing. It can be helpful when sighting in enemies on the ground, or while zeroing in on a target in flight.
There is no real consensus on the zoom aspect, that comes down to personal preference. I personally like it and use it quite often, but there are others in the office here that prefer to use right-click. I'd say to test it out and you will know within a few rounds which is right for you.
Best regards,

Cheers for that Mike.
Yes it is odd when my head turns to the right (for instance) to move the TrackIR unit and my view in game changes (my eyes want to follow my head!)...as a response my eyes want to go back to the centre of the screen, and my head wants to follow, so there's this flippy floppy effect going on.
Is one of the learning curves training you brain to only turn the head and not the eyes?

Hello Motorwayne,
There is a little bit of training of the brain that goes into it. My advice would be to stop thinking about it. For me it was a lot easier when I allowed it to be natural, and stopped forcing it.
