Back to IL-2 and mouse emulation. Centre but

I am back flying Il-2 as F.B IMHO has "improved it worse"
When I first flew IL-2, and in the early times of trackIR, I had no trouble using a Centre button on my Cougar in order to clcik to centre of windscreen now and again when needed.
Now in IL-2 the button does not work, ie take me back to centre; but in the trackIR motions screen it does! Only in the game does it not do that.
Has anyone got any ideas why and how to fix it?
I wonder if it is because I also have F.B. on my hard drive, and somehow there is an effect from that.
I could uninstall FB, but I want to keep it in case a friend and I play online ( not thru H.L, but direct to each others PC )
Though if that is the cause I may have to take a rain check on the Online
I have used two different TrackIR versions - the latest 3.02 beta and the 2.1.0. etc.
