Is trackir 5 completely wireless?

I saw a few post describing/asking how to add a battery to Trackir 5 which made me wonder it its completely wireless or not.

1: Do you have to use the Pro clip?
2: Does the Pro clip need a USB cable to play?
3: Is the Pro clip only for more precise movements?

I have a wireless headset so using a wired setup I feel would be going backwards a bit. I would rather lose a bit of options and stay wireless.

Hello Veger,

1. No you don't have to use the TrackClip PRO. There are two options for tracking, the TrackClip and the TrackClip PRO. The TrackClip can be used with any standard baseball cap, or slipped onto the cross bar for headphones uses a passive reflection from the TrackIR's internal LEDs. The TrackClip PRO clips to the side of your headset and uses active LEDs for tracking. Combined with a TrackIR, the TrackClip PRO delivers precise view control. The expandable clip fits headset bands up to 1 1/4" wide and up to 1/2" thick.
2. Yes the TrackClip PRO needs the USB to power the active LEDs. We don't have a wireless option for the TrackClip PRO, but there are several articles around the web that show easy ways to make your own.
3. Yes, the main function of the TrackClip PRO is to allow a more precise tracking option.

I hope this helps.

Yeah, I'm using the TrackClip and I'm very happy with it even in daylight. Don't want to mess with usb cable or batteries and wearing a cap is a good thing :)
