Couple of problems

Hi,
Just got TIR3pro last week and have been trying to train myself in using it.
So far I'm loving it. I've been using the Charvelle(sp) profile and trying to fine tune it for my setup...increased the center deadzone is about it atm, and while I feel it needs more tweaking I'm loving the immersion of it.
Ran into a few issues so far however.
Occasionaly my view will shift straight down to my feet. I'm assuming it does this possibly becuase its losing site of the the dot. The part that throws me off is that I can be looking straight ahead when this happens.
This seems to happen even more often when trying to play online.
Also, I'm wondering if I should maybe try the 3.10 as 3.11 seems pretty unstable. I can crash the NaturalPoint 3.11 software quite easily it seems. When it crashs some strange stuff start happening with my keyboard. Like it scramble windows hotkeys to single key making normal typing impossible.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Hardtale,
When this happens can you please check the tracking screen, the dot that the unit is tracking should be the only thing that you should see.
Un-install the 3.11 and install the 3.12 that is available on our website.
Check your Event log in Windows to see what caused the crash, if you can e-mail me this log I will look at this for you and also send you the profile that I use.

Thank you Wayne.
Sorry for the delayed response.
I will try out the 3.12 as soon as I get a chance (unfortuneatly RL has kept me from playing with my new toy).
I sent you the email with the logs and look forward to trying your profile.
Thanks again for the great support!

Also, as a (small) possibility there could be a key that is still bound to view movements in FB where it's not needed anymore which could mess with your head tracking. You could be inadvertantly using a key/slider/stick movement that's still bound while the TIR is supposed to be taking care of the view.
Probably not, but it's worth double checking.
Oh, and are you positive that you have Absolute mode enabled in the driver before going into the game?

Hey hey, calm down, will ya please? Don't make an idiot of yourself and discredit your and your postings' credibility with it.
I don't know what's been going on in your case, but I suppose that Wayne just followed the usual way of trying to trck down a problem to find its cause, which is - should be, at least - standard. He's trying to help you, just like anybody else.
The emphasis lies on "trying to" 'cause this requires your help with describing your problem in detail and answering his further questions. If you don't help the support, the support can't help you - it's that easy.
In most cases the cause of an issue is not a harware defect, but either a user mistake or a software issue. If it's a user mistake then this should be rather easy to find out since you should already have described your issue and what exactly you've tried to solve it so far in detail; if not, he'll ask you, and you should really answer and not insist on knowing it better. If it's a software issue then this is harder to find out and track down since it could be everything from a messed up install over your OS itself to any of the inumerable drivers one usually got installed. Again: your only hope is to give as much and detailed info as possible and hope someone might draw the right conclusion.
Dang it, I've been quite busy on Cougar World, and guess what? I've seen just way too many people returning their controllers as broken when they in fact were just not able to calibrate them properly! A little RTFMing and following other people's advices even without actually fully understanding them would have spared both sides a lot of bad mood.
Now you state that the TrackIR doesn't work in IL2... Sorry, but that's just plain wrong (to avoid "bullshit") since for many (*most*, but anyway) users it does! Just browse these boards... So, the TrackIR doesn't work in IL for *you*.
I've had an issue with my TrackIR, too. I got several tips what to try out, but a clean install of my OS (which I had to do due to other reasons anyway) surprisingly solved my TrackIR issue without me doing anything - strange, huh? Rather normal I'd say, with that mix and mess of OS, HW, drivers and apps we call system...
The support may not always be able to help you, but you should at least give them a chance to try!

SgtWalt,
If you had checked your private messages you would have seen that I sent you a response on August 30, 2004 01:11 PM, and August 31, 2004 10:43 AM. Your forum profile does not have an e-mail address, so I asked for one so that I could send you the profiles.
In your private message you stated: "Hi Wayne,
I have emailed you 3 seperate times from my home email at
mustng51@comcast.net. I have gooten zero response on your claim that you will send me your profile." (this is the first time you have shared your address with me)
I have not received any messages from the
mustng51@comcast.net email address.
Please e-mail me so that we can deal with your unit, it does look like the unit may be faulty.
Please see PRIVATE MESSAGE sent to you below.

I would be happy to send you the profile that I use, if you can e-mail me so that I have an e-mail address to send it to you.
Ensure that you are about an arms length away from your unit.
If you are using the TrackHAT or one of the large square dots you must check the box for the TrackHAT in the tracking page.
If you find that you are not getting all the way around when you view left and right you can alter this somewhat in the registry, the instructions are located on our website under the IL2 webpage.
We are aware of this and is due to Ubisoft making an alteration in the capping to make TrackIR and mouse look the same.

I sometimes wish I had the patience for the "over-reacting-drama-queen-customer complex" in my own business at times cause I'm as likely to just give their money back with a suggestion on where that particular product might fit best.
Then again I'm sure Wayne's a better man than I.

Been awhile since I have been able to check back due to RL flight training etc...and any free time I get I try to play hehe.
Not sure what is up with SgtWalt, but I have had exceptional CS when I asked for it.
Charvel,
First off thanks for the profile as it has been a good base for tweaking my own profile.
I think what the issue was with the view dropping down was simply that the rigged clip that I have my dot on was catching just enough glare at times that it would throw it off. I took a black marker to it and havent had the problem since.
The software itself is unstable as I can crash it at will if I try to switch from absolute mode using any hotkey (both 3.11 and 3.12). It might be a hardware/OS issue as I noticed someone else with a similiar hardware setup have the same issue.
Might also be something with my keyboard becuase when it does crash it does something to the keystrokes making them act like I'm using windows short cut keys as if I was holding down the Alt key.
However, it really hasnt been an issue since I just keep it in absolute mode and disable the mode hotkey (so I dont hit it by accident) in all of my profiles and everything works fine.
Been using it in both IL-2 and FS9 a lot and loving every minute of it....well worth every dime IMO.
